Interview with Tasty Resident JK

This article is about Tasty - 7th Birthday & last event EVER @ Mass in London (UK), Sat 27 Sep 2008

You have been playing for TASTY for a number of years now, so will you be sad to see it go?
Definitely, Tasty has been one of my favourite promotions to play for with the hardance and hardcore clubbers coming together for nights of mayhem with a real party atmosphere.

What have been your favourite memories of Tasty?
Their have been loads over the years but I always enjoyed playing at the parties held at Renaissance Rave Rooms, the main room was massive and always rammed and when all the lasers went off it looked amazing from the DJ box. Raindance vs Tasty at the Arches was excellent for that real old skool rave feel but one of my favourite memories is playing every night in the Tasty arena at Innovation In The Sun 2007 (Spain). With the combination of sun, sand, sea and over 4000 up for it clubbers having it all week long to some very drunken B2B sets with Andy McCall.

You’re playing B2B with Andy McCall featuring live vocals by Stace, how has this come about and what can we look forward to from your set?
Andy and I run a record label called Tornado Trax and Stace has sung on some of the labels releases so far. For our last Tasty set to we wanted to play a mixture of party anthems with some of our labels own releases thrown in along the way with STACE singing live over them during the set.

What highlights have there been so far?
The label is in its early stages with 9 releases to date, there have been quite a few highlights already with the TORNADO EP going to number 1 & 2 in the top 100 charts on trackitdown.net for a number of weeks. Also some of our releases have featured on the new Frantic album mixed by Anne Savage and the Elevate album mixed by Kevin Energy & Phil York.

Do you get a buzz hearing your tracks played by other DJ’s?
Yeah, a wicked buzz, Our tracks have received support from Rob Tissera, Anne Savage, Technikal, Amber D, Kevin Energy & Phil Reynolds. At Gatecrasher Summer Sound System Rob Tissera played ‘Take Control’ in the Storm Presents Yoji Arena and the place went off with me right in the middle of the dance floor stomping to one of our tracks.

What future releases for Tornado Trax?
The labels is gearing up for its next few releases with collaborations with the mighty Technikal and rising producer Brett Wood . Also busy with plans in the pipeline for future events.

As the owner of a record label, you receive many demos from DJs and producers. What, in your eyes, are the important ingredients for a track to catch your attention?
I like various styles of music so there is not just one thing I look for, but always looking for new catchy material with a pumping party edge.
