How long have you been mixing: 6 yrs, well I’ve had my decks for 6 years. The first 18 months were spent wearing out as many stylus and vinyl from the 80’s as possible. Usually with a penny keeping the stylus in the groove. Scratching is what first attracted me to playing the decks. I didn’t have the patience to sit and learn how to mix so I used to just scratch it up!

What genres of music do you like to play: I’ve given up trying to work out what I want to play so I just play it all. House and most of its sub genres. Breaks, indie dance/nu disco Drum and bass, Hard Trance/Style, dubstep.

Who are your inspirations: cally and juice, hype, scratch perverts, 2manydjs, chemical brothers, daft punk, underworld, jeremy healy, mark eg, high contrast, Vandall, mike skinner. etc Daft punk at global gathering was the best gig I’ve ever seen, a total show piro technics etc etc. at the other end you have got legends like mark eg who’s pressence behind the decks is something that everyone should see at least once. When I was 18 I got handed a Cally and Juice mix tape. North 36. This was a total new style of music to me at the time and with the scratching I fell in love with hard trance.

What do you do Monday – Friday: Attempt to earn money, which even for a plumber like myself is a bitch in this recession, make music, play music and I seem to spend half the week driving. A good sound system helps, wether its james brown or scott brown bannging out im usually nodding my head and/or singing my tits off. One day a week I study music production at pointblank music college in hoxton.

Your Weakness: partying to hard for to long whilst weight lifting 4 times a week and a serious lack of sleep caused me to get glandular fever/chronic fatigue. I spent a year on my sofa and couldn’t work for 18 months. It’s a sad state of affairs when you look forward to jeremy kyle in the afternoon but im happy to say im passed that now. One good thing that came out of it was the amount of time I spent on the decks, if I could stand up I was spinning tunes. This inabled me to really improve my dj skills. When doctors and herbalists said I had to change my ways I thought my life was over but to be fair getting wrecked is over rated and you can achieve a lot more when your head is a little straighter. I still suffer with my energy a bit but as long as I look after myself I can still rave as hard as ever, its just the menu is a little different nowadays. God I sound like im 50 not 25. Ha! what a joke!
