For those of us that DON'T know, where did your DJ name come from??? What does CJ mean???
It's my real name. Christopher John Mackintosh!!!

How did you get involved with Kinky Malinki?

I've been playing for them as a guest for a number of years now.

How did you get into house music? And what inspired you to produce/remix your first record?

When I first started buying house music in the mid 1980's, it wasn't even called house!! It was just a new style of music that emerged. So, naturally, as a DJ who was into every style of dance music I started buying house too. In terms of producing, I wasn't inspired to remix or produce. It's what I wanted to do from the age of about 11...(!)

What's been the proudest moment in your professional life so far?

Well, having a number one record with M/A/R/R/S was definitely a proud moment. I would've been more proud of that moment if I had made money from it and not been ripped off in the process. Becoming one of the original Ministry Of Sound residents, remixing some of the top artists in the world and winning the DMC UK title in 1987 are all up there with the best of them.

Aside, of music what else has been your proudest moment to date?

Becoming a father. That beats everything.

What productions/releases have you got coming up?

Hopefully lots this year. It's been a while and definitely a long time in coming....

What did you do for your last birthday and when was your birthday?

My last birthday was on the 29th of December 2008. I did nothing - which was nice.

And, how young does that make you?!?!

That makes me errrm… hold on… errrm… Sorry, forgot!!!

What's the best night out you've ever had?

Playing for twelve and a half hours at Ministry. Crazy but amazing.

What's the worst DJing gig you've ever had?

The ones where it's empty!!!

What happened the last time you embarrassed yourself?

I don't really get embarrassed too much cause I really don't give a s**t!!!

What can't you live without?

Music, of course....

Before you were a DJ, what was the worst job you'd ever had?

Working in Sainsbury's in the fruit & veg section. That lasted about a week.

What was the last record you bought?

About ten tunes off the Traxsource website.

Who or what are your musical influences?

Many artists have been my influences over the years. I could be here all day listing them(!) - but ONE musician that I always sat down and listened to, no matter what time of day, was Roy Ayers. From his writing, to his vibes, to his melodies and production!! An amazing artist and still going today.

Is there anything unusual or weird about you that you'd like to share with us?

Yeah, both my arms aren't real, I've got 5 nipples, 9 fingers, 17 toes and I have a really BIG…... nose.

What tunes have lodged themselves in your record box/CD bag and refuse to leave?

Oooh, lots of early Masters At Work stuff and lots of tunes from the Soulfuric label....

If you had a time machine, where would you go and why?

That's a hard one. I'd like to see the future and what that holds for us and our children. But on the other hand, I would like to go back in time and be the one that invented EVERYTHING!! Haha!! Or maybe I'll just go back to 1955 and see Marty and Doc from 'back to the future'!!!
