My question:

Tim, apart from the prize and the obligatory sense of acheivement, can you give me three good reasons why I should enter this competition?

a) the Evil bloke out of the painting in Ghostbusters?

b) a representation of the way that we now idolise and pay more attention to technology and new ideas (the machinery bit) than to public figures, patron saints, world leaders etc...
Or that manufactured, man-made idols have taken over from great thinkers and statesmen/women such as More?
We have now made a Saint out of material things rather than ideals and beliefs...
We have replaced Utopia with things that we own...

Or is that reading into it way to much? Yeah I'll stick with Ghosbusters.

It is in fact the very first of Babbage's Difference engines, made by his son from unfinished bits... as Babbs poped his clogs before he got a prototype running.

Holbein painted More, but used the same body a lot, including a portrait of himself which we used but is basically the same thing.

The idea was to imagine a Victorian Steam computer so ace that they made it Mayor.
