Danny Tenaglia's long awaited return to the UK
Saturday Sessions Presents We Love Club Class with Danny Tenaglia @ Ministry of Sound 23.09.06

Revered the world over by clubbers and DJs alike, tribal house grandmaster Danny Tenaglia's long awaited return to Ministry has been highly anticipated since it was announced earlier this year. Hosted by Kent's finest Club Class and as part of We Love's weekend double header (part 2 being the next day in Ibiza for We Love Sundays @ Space) this is DT's first appearance in the capital for almost two years and given the fact his rare London appearances are very few and far between, there is little wonder that the queue stretches around the block.

Indeed it would seem that the New York legend has lost none of his mass appeal (particularly when an extra special 5 hour extended session is promised) and with a heavyweight support line up of Nic Fanciulli, Paul Woolford and Desyn Masiello there really are no excuses for any absentees.

Making his entrance at midnight, Tenaglia wastes no time in the main room and swiftly begins doing what he does best, putting the world famous soundsystem through its considerable paces from the off. Dark, twisted house music is the order of the day as punishing tribal beats, metallic techno riffs, clattering percussion and progressive grooves collide in a blur of underground club vibes. His majestic set is a journey in every sense of the word as vocal gems such as the Supermayer remix of Gui Borrato's ethereal 'Like You' punctuate the avalanche of instrumental house tracks, bringing the dancefloor to the edges of euphoria before the punishing beats return.

Meanwhile in the bar, a four hour back to back set from Nic Fanciulli and
Desyn Masiello is taking no prisoners as Balearic-tinged, tech house bangers such as Nic's own classic remix of Chiapet's 'Westworld', his current club smash 'Lucky Heather' and Sebastien Leger's funky techno nugget 'Bad Clock' give the capacity crowd a very real alternative to the night's main room event. With these two in the second room, it is little wonder Club Class is making such waves in London club land right now.

Back in the main room, a trademark Tenaglia re-edit of 'La La Land' has the crowd singing along, whilst the very animated DJ conducts the crowd, jumps on the front of the booth and at one point gesticulates the crowd with an umbrella, he like the rest of us is clearly having fun. The distinct bars of the anthemic 'Stoppage Time' splice with the vocals from The Peech Boys 'Don 't Make Me Wait' and Kings of Tomorrow's 'Finally' in another Tenaglia re-fix that brings an epic set to a rousing finale. Tenaglia takes to the mic, vowing to return soon. With the success of tonight's party, I am sure the wait won't be a long one.
