The rise and rise of Anders Trentemöller

This article is about ClubClass presents Trentemöller LIVE @ Ministry of Sound in London (UK), Sun 08 Apr 2007

Easter Sunday 8th April witnesses the much anticipated return to London of the man widely recognized as having had more impact on dance music than any other producer over the last two years; the magical Anders Trentemöller. The last time Trentemöller played in London over 2300 people filled the Ministry Of Sound to witness one of the greatest performances in ClubClass history. Nothing short of a complete sell out is anticipated this time round either as Trentemöller delivers another outstanding live performance in next generation electronica.

The rise of Anders Trentemöller can be described as a rollercoaster ride to the summit of dance music. Making his debut in 1997, Trentemöller together with DJ T.O.M., formed the first live-house act in Denmark under the name Trigbag. Three successful gigs at Denmark’s distinguished Roskilde Festival resulted in huge exposure both at home and abroad, as did a number of remixes and the release of the Trigbag single called 'Showtime'. This received massive acclaim amongst international DJ's such as Alex Gopher, Laurent Garnier, and Etienne dé Crecy. In 2000 Trigbag dissolved with Trentemöller taking a 2 year break from the house scene.

During this time the demand for Anders never disappeared and when he returned with a string of legendary remixes on labels both obscure and renowned, together with his awesome live appearances alongside DJ T.O.M., the buzz about Anders was stronger than ever. In January 2005 'Beta Boy' was released on Out Of Orbit Records, and in Febuary 2005 Steve Bug released the Trentemöller EP 'Physical Fraction' on his new label Audiomatique, containing the tracks Physical Fraction, Rykketid and Prana. The EP got massive airplay from various DJs all over the world, and went straight to number 6 at the German top 50 single hitlist (Groove Magazine), together with his Run Jeremy's Window Licker bootleg.

Such studio efforts allowed for Trentemöller to gain global recognition for his signature sound taking in elements of house, techno, electro and minimal and utilising the contrast between large and vast echo chambers with sharp, direct, in-your-face sounds. In April 2005 he released his first EP on Poker Flat called 'Polar Shift'. The title track was a highly elaborate tech-tune and a classy 12" that rocked advanced dancefloors, but also offered enough 'brainfood' for an eclectic listening session. This resulted in Trentemöller receiving the ‘producer of the year’ award at the 2005 Danish DJ Awards.

In 2006 Trentemöller took his position amongst dance music’s elite with the release of his definitive and eagerly anticipated debut album ‘The Last Resort’. The beautifully crafted masterpiece proved a huge success with IDJ, DJ and M8 all declaring it as October’s Album of the month’ and rewarding the work with 5 out of 5, 4½ out of 5 and 8 out of 8 respectively. In addition to this Trentemöller also achieved the tremendous accolade of BBC Radio1 Essential Mix of the year and received huge praise for his outstanding rework of Moby 'Go'. In November the UK date for the world tour supporting the album saw Anders making his long awaited ClubClass debut at a completely sold out Ministry Of Sound.

On Sunday 8th April 2007 Trentemöller will make his much anticipated return to London again for ClubClass at the Ministry. This will be Anders final confirmed UK performance for 2007 so if you want to see him play in the big smoke this year this is probably going to be your only opportunity. Joining Anders in the main room will of course be DJ T.O.M., along with the sublime house sounds of ClubClass resident Paolo Mojo and We Love resident for 2007 Serge Santiago. In the bar Groove Monkey return to the Ministry with one of the hottest young properties in dance music today Chris ‘Changes’ Lake and London house legends Soul Avengerz, whilst the Baby Box is hosted by Wales’ no.1 party Cool House with Connected in the Lounge.

With Trentemöller back in town, back at ClubClass and back at the control of one of the world’s greatest soundsystems we predict even more anarchy than we witnessed back in November. So get your tickets today before the roadblock begins for what will be another incredible performance from a legend in the making!!
