I WANT MY MTV....the man like Martijn ten Velden breaks his silence!
1. Where are you right now? I’ve just arrived in my native Holland to visit my family for a week, my sister just had TWINS!! ? It’s going to be a nice chilled week before the big one this Saturday at Ministry of Sound!
2. What’s the biggest record in your bag? Well, I hope I am not accused of shameless self promotion but I would have to say the track that is killing it everywhere I play is my new remix of the classic Heller & Farley track “Ultra Flava”.
3. You are jetting in to play at Toolroom Knights at Ministry of Sound this Saturday; tell us a little of what you have planned for your set? Well, this Saturday is going to be a little bit special as myself and Mark Knight will be playing back to back on four decks, two mixers for five hours in the main room for Toolroom Knights. As a member of the Toolroom Knights family, Mark and I have a unique musical connection that was created from many hours working together in the studio so expect some surprises.
4. What’s your favourite way to relax? Aaah that’s a good question! With all the travelling I do I enjoy kicking back and watching a good movie. Also now I am based out in Dubai going to the beach is always an option or I like to go to the gym and release all the stress.
5. Tell us what new music you’ve got coming out... Well, apart from the remix I’ve got coming out of Heller & Farley’s “Ultra Flava” on Defected, I am also putting the finishing touches to my next single “Together” which is out in February next year. Plus I am looking forward to going back into the Toolroom studio with Mark again early next year!
6. What is your best trait? I’ve been told I am very patient... 7. What is your worst trait? I think (however) I can be very impatient!
8. If you had to pick one up and coming producer who would it be? I am really feeling D Dub - the combination of two hot London producers - Kid Dub & Cozzy D. Both of them have a dirty electro edged sound and when they come together to make tunes it’s a devastating combination! 9. Can you give budding producers a good studio tip? Well, it’s a very simple tip but an important lesson for any new producer...just remember, less is more. 10. And finally, who would play you in a film of your life? Rowan Atkinson...don’t ask me to explain...it’s a very long story!
