The new Pioneer CDJ launches on Thursday night at an invite only event at Ministry of Sound.

The new CDJ is expected to be a Serato or Final Scratch killer, building a hard-drive into the device so DJs will no longer need a laptop or even CDs.

the new pioneer media player will not kill off current dvs systems like Traktor and serato as they are more personal to the dj in the way they are set up, music folders and tracks can be set up before hand. more likely the new table top player will be more digital dj friendly as it supports full midi.

pioneer will have to also keep the price down if they want to shift units , its rumoured to be around the £1000 mark . does this mean we will see a price drop in the 1000mk3 . will have to wait and see. knowing pioneer and its strong brand image , this new kit is going to be out of reach for the average bedroom dj.
