Ministry of Sound is 18 years old this weekend and to help celebrate this milestone we at The Gallery are kicking off their Birthday weekender on Friday 25th September with a mother of all line-ups!! Very few brands and clubs enjoy the worldwide recognition and acclaim that Ministry of Sound enjoy. To help blow the candles out on this monumental birthday cake we have invited a typical Gallery line-up of legends to kick start the weekend in style. First up is the much talked about Boy George, joined by Gallery regular and Radio 1 jock Judge Jules, Gallery main man Tall Paul and residents Gavyn Mytchel and The Viceroy round off the Box.

Inspired by New York’s Paradise Garage, Ministry of Sound’s renowned London nightclub was the brainchild of DJ Justin Berkmann, who set out to create London’s first club devoted to the US house music scenes of New York, Chicago and Detroit, with a room purely dedicated to sound. Berkmann partnered with James Palumbo and Humphrey Waterhouse to bring the concept to life and a site, a disused bus garage, was located in Elephant & Castle in London. With the now iconic logo designed by Marc Woodhouse, the doors officially opened on 21 September 1991. With opening sets from US house DJs like Larry Levan, David Morales, C+C Music Factory, Roger Sanchez and Tony Humphries, the UK’s first 24-hour dance license, and a 140dB(A) sound-system designed and installed by Austen Derek. We at The Gallery moved to the world famous Ministry in 2008 and we have loved it ever since, providing the perfect home for our weekly sessions of the best in trance, tech and house.

We are delighted to be welcoming back to clubland Boy George. Having proved a sure fire hit on his previous outings for us at The Gallery including the huge Clockwork Orange Birthday in March 2008 at Turnmills including live impromptu vocals!!! Boy George has forged a career so rich in details we simply don’t know where to begin… suffice to say that in the Top 100 Greatest Britain’s poll conducted by the BBC, Boy George was 46!!! Good to have you back mister. Regular guest Judge Jules is back for his monthly dose of The Gallery. Still rocking on strong after yet another record season in Ibiza with his Judgement Sunday brand as well as his continued Radio 1 show on a Friday night (which he will be hosting live before dashing down to the club), Jules will be joined by Gallery main man Tall Paul who drops another main room epic set. Literally towering over everything The Gallery does, Paul will provide the perfect soundtrack to the Birthday celebrations alongside Gallery residents Gavyn Mytchel and The Viceroy.

The Birthday bash gets bigger still as The Bar is hosted by those nutters at Grin Recordings with two very special headline guests in the shape of King Roc and Deepgroove. Both DJs are long-time Gallery favourites and it’s great to have them back in the groove this Friday night! Grin residents Jack Michaels, James Edwards, Mark Batch, Yiannis Balkizas and Chris Canning get in on the Birthday action too, leaving the ever brilliant Plastic Fondu to keep it going in The Loft, whilst Evissa tear up the Baby Box! Happy Birthday Ministry, 18 years young!!
