The Gallery tomorrow night with Umek & Picotto
Our first Gallery outing for February brings something a little on the techno side of life.

After several hugely successful visits last year we are delighted to be welcoming back the Italian tour de force of all things tech Mr Mauro Picotto.

Joining him we are proud to present none other than Umek. The Slovenian producer and DJ is one of the biggest names around and his brand of techno has always blown the roof off The Gallery and on that world class sound-system at Ministry...it will be simply unreal.

The Bar meanwhile welcomes Godskitchen resident Paul Thomas alongside Marc Vedo and Gallery favourite Graeme Lloyd.

MAURO PICOTTO INTERVIEW

First and foremost, how are you?
I am very good thank you, I just had few days holidays and got time to finish my new 2010 album so very happy indeed.

How has 2010 been so far?
Well we are only a few weeks into the year and right now I am touring in Brazil, Chile and Colombia. The weather is very nice here in South America also!

UMEK INTERVIEW

First and foremost, how are you?
I’m fine, thank you. I’ve just returned from the Canary Islands where I’ve chilled a bit for the last couple of days. The end of the year was quite busy with Australian and North American tour and bunch of gigs on the mainland Europe, so I decided to take a break from gigs most of the January.

How has 2010 been so far?
Great. I’ve just returned from the Tenerife yesterday and I’m going to snowboard in Kranjska Gora right after we finish this interview. And something really outstanding happened yesterday, so I have to brag a bit: Danilo Türk, the president of Slovenia, has visited our small office and we spoke about what we do, how we manage our projects and the brand Umek and I’ve also shown him how my live set works. We are a small business working in the field of creative industries and new technologies, so it’s a really big thing if the head of state pays you the honour with his official visit. I’ve produced most of my releases scheduled till April, including my new artist album Responding to Dynamics, at the end of last years, so I am able to really enjoy my time off. I still have to do four or five remixes but I’m in no hurry, so I’ll spent the next few weeks to get my grip on Pro Tools, new Logic, new Ableton and new Traktor. I’m working with Logic, Ableton and Traktor all the time, so I just have to check what new features are bringing to the game. I’ll spend some more time to get use to Pro Tools again, though. I used to work on that platform in the past and abandoned it on account of Logic some four years ago. But I have some new ideas how to incorporate the Pro Tools in my sound now, so I have to study it a bit.
