Monsterfi...er I mean CLOVERFIELD!!!
Righto I went this this one last night along with a few other members of this group and the general consensus afterwards was that it was a very good film.

Obviously I won;t go into too much detail of how the whole thing pans out but I have to say that this one lives up to much of the hype they generated for it. Don't expect any oscar winning performances but the acting is pretty good from the group of relative unknowns. I actually think the film benefited from casting in this way as it wasn't about anyone being the star of the show.

For me one of the best things about it was the feeling of tension during certain parts. You knew something was going to happen but wasn't always aware where it was gonna come from or how. The pacing of the film was also just about right for me. They managed to get in a decent amount of back ground story so you knew a little about the characters but not too much so as to detract from what everyone wanted to see which was a big fucking monster ripping the shit out of New York city.

The special effects worked really well and I think it helped that it was done with a hand held camera as it didn't look too CGI fakey.

Another thing as well is that the film threw up some more questions after viewing it. I obviously won't go into detail but it begs the question if there will be any follow on from it or possibly even a sequel (don't laugh this is Hollywood remember!).

Anyway to sum up, really good film. For me it delivered on pretty much everything that I wanted. Definitely recommended to see on the big screen for full effect.

I thought this film was absolute tripe. The camera style didn't suit the scenario, the monster's screen time was insultingly low and overall just not impressed, found it very annyoing
