PART ONE: The Gordon Edge Lowdown

Gordon Edge has been DJing for over 15 years and playing the trumpet a lot longer than that! When he started DJing, he always wanted to make his own productions so he started doing tape edits. He got inspired to make his own records after doing the world tour playing trumpet alongside his brother Stuart and artist, 'Sade'. His first demo (with Adam Routh) got signed to Virgin 10 records. The record got a good reaction but it took months to actually get it released so, in 1991, he started his own label to get tracks out from studio, to 12" and onto the street in seven days!

It was a great time for 12" white labels. Totally different to the free download situation now. The first releases got great reaction. Edge Records *1 (Compnded) just kept on selling and selling! It's still getting played and is licensed to compilations (Ministry Of Sound and many more!) and is now an official 'Rave' anthem!

He continued producing tracks on the Rabbit City, Edge and XVX labels releasing records every 2 weeks for about 7 years. In total, he released over 170 12" records (selling close to a million records). At that time, he started getting asked to DJ at some of the biggest parties & clubs in Germany. Playing at these parties opened a lot of doors for him. He played at parties with DJs like Westbam, Marc Spoon (no relation to Dave, unfortunately) and Timo Mass.

In 1996, he wanted a break from studio life and started racing Moto X which took over from the music for a while! Then in 1998, he went to Ibiza and back to the music. A two-week holiday turned into the whole season and then every summer! The third day he was in Ibiza, he played the Space Terrace. The same summer he went onto play at all the biggest clubs - playing at Pacha, Manumission, Space, Amnesia and Es Paradis. It was then that he went into the studio with Adam Routh and made 'Itza Trumpet Thing' and had it pressed up and with DJs in just seven days. Everyone started playing it and it got to be one of that summer's anthems.

While DJing one day, he met the owner of a new club in South Beach, Miami - 'Bar Room'. He invited him to be a resident there for the season. So he was all set it seemed - Summer = Ibiza, Winter = Miami!!!

Another highlight was on Millennium New Year when he got to play for Madonna. She then invited him to play for her again in New York at one of her private party's. It was about that time he started adding the trumpet into his DJ sets. He then went on to play sets all over the globe - with tours of China, Australia and Russia.

In 2005, he got a call from Erick Morillo and a few months later 'Set Your Body Free' was released on Subliminal records. He also invited him to be one of the residents at Subliminal @ Pacha Ibiza!

Last summer, he was invited to be one of the resident at Bora Bora, Ibiza! Another great experience, sometimes playing upto 5 to 8 hour sets to great people 5/6 days a week! Well, this winter has been one of the busiest ever with sets including the launch of Pacha in Sao Paulo, Brazil alongside Sarah Main, the Bacardi B'Live Tour in Vienna with Pete Tong plus several sets across Austria, Germany, Finland, Spain, Switzerland, Lithuania, Georgia, St Pete's Russia, Dubai and of course England!

A pretty good way to get warmed up for the summer season in Ibiza, eh?!?!
