However, as an aside, I would be more inclinded to put a photo on the front page if it was uploaded at a proper resolution (> 1280x1024) rather than a shitty low resolution (eg 600x400). The whole point of DSI is to share photos and let other people appreciate ones work.

Join the rest of us - upload your pics at a decent resolution!

Nope they dont.

Especially on a monitor at 1920x1200 resolution. Its nice to blow a really good pic up large and properly appreciate it.

The resolution that i upload to is more than the minimum specs for viewing on DSI!

There are no hard and fast minimum specs, but as a general rule, I dont bother looking at photos from togs who upload their pics at low resolutions.

DSI doesnt have full screen mode so this res is good to view on DSI.

Um yes it does. You can click the link below the photo to view the photo full size. And actual size is full size really. In IE it sizes the pic to fit the screen, like Im sure it does in many other browsers.

Which means that the above photo is suitable for front page but because you cant properly view it in 1920x1200

Putting to one side whether the above pic is any good or not, a low res pic makes it unsuitable for me to put it front page. Others may be different.

I dont necessarily want to view a pic in 1920x1200, but I certainly dont want to view a pic at 600x400. If you read my original post I stated that I personally feel pics should be uploaded at something greater than 1280x1024.

When you upload in high res it takes 4 times longer

Not really 4 times longer, but that aside, what does it matter. You just set your galleries to upload, and then wait for them to be done. So it takes a bit longer; what difference does it make.
