This article is about Club Azuli with CEDRIC GERVAIS, SEAMUS HAJI, David Piccioni, Rap Saunders and more! @ Pacha in London (UK), Sat 13 Sep 2008
Cedric Gervais is resident at one of the cities biggest and best clubs – Space. He has also been finding big success in 2008 with his remixes and productions with one of the biggest tracks of recent months being Cedric's rerub of the club classic 'Hideaway'.
Joining Cedric is Seamus Haji, a producer and DJ who has a long history of rocking clubs worldwide and releasing great house music on his label Big Love. Also finding production success in the remix partnership – Haji & Emmanuel. Azuli head and resident David Piccioni completes the line up, whose long connection with the Azuli crowd ensures he always delivers exactly what’s required.
Club Azuli caught up with Cedric before his appearance to see what he had to say about his exclusive London appearance this year....
Do you hail from Miami?
I was born in Marseille in the south of France, but moved to Miami about ten years ago.
You obviously have been to the WMC, is the conference still as relevant as it once was?
I have seen the Winter Music Conference increase in size and popularity every year that I have lived in Miami. While it still remains relevant to the dance music scene, it seems like the conference has become a mini version of “one week in Ibiza” – with the focus on coming down to party rather than trying to get business accomplished.
Miami has a history of great house music, does the city still have its own sound?
Miami definitely still has its own unique spin on house music, especially in the US. Just listen to the music from many of the talented DJs who come out of Miami and you can hear it. It’s probably because of the city’s location on the east coast in warm weather, its claim to the Winter Music Conference, and the numerous clubs in South Beach and downtown where dance music thrives.
Best club in Miami at the moment?
Space, of course, is still the best and the only place in town where you can go and listen to house music from 12am to 5pm the next day surrounded by a crowd ready for anything!
Where's the best place in Miami to a) eat b) club c) get a tan?
A) Nobu, B) Space (Terrace), and C) the Delano beach
Whats the best thing about coming to the UK to play?
I love the crowds at my UK gigs. UK clubbers always seem to be the most educated in dance music and they show it on the dance floor.
You've been to Ibiza this summer, is it your first time on the island, and what do you think?
This has been one of my many summers visiting Ibiza – both to party and to perform. I felt that this summer in Ibiza was a little slower than in years past, perhaps due to the changes in economy and rising gas prices.
What’s been your biggest track this year?
So far, my biggest track has been “Texi” from Sharam – it’s definitely a dance-floor crusher.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to continue extensively touring the globe, and also putting the finishing touches on my album which is set to release in Christmas 2008.
