How did you get in to DJing?
I started buying vinyl during my first year at Cardiff University, ten years ago. The dance scene in the city was fantastic at the time, and there were two first class record shops that I was a regular at. I’d also just got back from my first trip to Ibiza that summer, which was a real eye opener, so a combination of all this got me involved. Dance music was still underground, but I was hooked straight away and started DJing soon after. I haven’t looked back since.
What is it like being resident for arguably the biggest clubbing brand in the world?
Awesome! I get to travel the world playing some amazing clubs alongside the best DJs in the world, so I can’t complain. I’m very lucky, and I fully appreciate the responsibility of being a Cream resident.
How did you become Cream resident?
I came second in a nationwide resident competition they were running to celebrate their tenth birthday. November last year I played the main room at Cream’s fifteenth birthday in Liverpool, so I’ve been for over five years now. Cream showed massive faith in me at the start, something I’ll also be grateful for.
Where's the best place you've DJ'd and why?
The main room at Amnesia, Ibiza, where I’m resident all summer for Cream. Everything about that club is special, the sound system, attention to detail inside the venue, the DJ booth. Not to mention that smoke cannon!
You play both main room trance and house sets. Which do you prefer and why do you choose to play both?
I love both, always have. I just appreciate well-produced music, and I’ve never been bothered about genres. If a record rocks, I’ll play it. I spin house sets and trance sets in equal measure and love the variety.
Your recent remix of Duffy's mercy has been caned on UK radio from Radio 1 to Kiss. What's it like to hear it being played and do you get bored of it?
The Duffy remix happened so fast. I heard the record on the Jo Wiley show on a Friday, took a copy of it into the studio over the weekend, and sent a demo to Duffy’s label Rough Trade the following Monday morning. They loved it, so did Duffy, next thing I know it’s getting hammered right across the UK. It helps the original was so good, her voice is amazing. I just worked in a killer a bass line and gave the original some kick. I’m not bored of it….yet!

Your track La Galleria has been signed to Paul van Dyk's Vandit label. Tell us a bit about that it?
I co-produced this track with The Viceroy, who is resident at The Gallery in London. We wanted to do something that would suit Cream in Ibiza and the main room of Turnmills, and this is what we came up with. It’s going down a storm everywhere I play it, and doing really well on Beatport. ‘La Galeria’ is Spanish for ‘The Gallery’ so you can see where we got the name.
What DJs would you pay money to see and why?
Sasha, because I’ve played with him a few times and he’s sound. His music and approach to DJing is also second to none. Carl Cox is also a favourite of mine. I’ve seen him a few times at Space in Ibiza as a punter, and that was unbelievable.
