D-Joust 2008: Who's taking part?

This article is about D-Joust DJ Competition - Semi Final 1 @ PLAN B in London (UK), Sat 04 Oct 2008

Over 400 DJs from up and down the UK and across Europe entered the 2008 D-Joust competition – with only 40 spaces in the regional quarter finals up for grabs the judges had their work cut out deciding who should go through to the live events in London, Birmingham and Antwerp. Those chosen few did not disappoint and following on from the 6 awesome regional quarter final contests we now head into the final stages of the comp and the mother of all battles approaches…

Here is a bit about each DJ and the Guest players at the event this Saturday 4th October.

Chris

Veteran DJ Chris Lloyd has been smashing up clubs all over the world for almost 15 years now. He featured in the very first D-Joust in '96 but unfortunately had to pull out due to other DJing commitments. He's back this year for more and after some truly impressive 3 deck trickery in his London heat he's one to watch. The judges decision was surrounded by controversy but he's back to show what he's made of and we're all looking forward to seeing some more.

Tom EQ:

Time DJing: 10 years
Part of: Fuzion Radio.com (www.fuzionradio.com)
Genre: House / Techno and whatever is in between
D-Joust History: Midlands Rnd 1 Winner 2008 | 2007 Runner Up

Tom

Grimbsy boy Tom Wilson is well known to the D-Joust. After missing out on top spot in 2007 by a couple of points he's a hot contender for this year's title. His tunes are always phat and always fun, throw in some scratching, a wry sense of humor and maybe a bit of friendly showboating for good measure and your in for a great time.

Levels:

From: Antwerp
Time DJing: 7 years
Genre: Fidget, Bmore, Miami Bass, Chicago
D-Joust History: Antwerp Champion / Semi Finalist
Website: myspace.com

Levels

Kristof Van Reeth AKA Levels is our representative from Belgium in this round. A jackin' house master and one of two laptop DJs left in the competition, Levels took on 10 of Europe's best to earn his place in the London finals.

EnigmatiK:

Part of: NoiZe resident
Genre: Electro / Tech House
D-Joust History: Midlands Round 2 Entrant

Sarah

Sarah Morris - Known as DJ Enigmatik Sarah joins us from The Midlands competition where the public favored her set as the best runner up in round 2. Don't be complacent though, public voted or not this is one talented DJ with a lot to offer.

Andy Roze:

From: Lithuania
Time DJing: 8 years
Part of: Flaxen Beats (Lithuania)
Genre: House (Funky , Jackin,)
D-Joust History: London Round 3 Entrant | 2007 Finalist
Website:http:// www.flaxenbeats.com

Andy

Andy Roze - Originally from Lithuania Andy Roze is again no stranger to The D-Joust. Finalist in 2007 and runnner up in his London heat, Andy plays fun, upbeat funky and jackin' house and always has the dance floor bouncing. Is this Andy's year?

Adam Horton:

From: Birmingham
Time DJing: 5 Years
Part of: Filth
Genre: Breaks
D-Joust History: Midlands Round 2 Entrant
Website: myspace.com

Adam

Adam Horton - Adam is the D-Joust's first ever wildcard entry. After having to say goodbye to great talent in previous years we decided to let one extra DJ go through to the semi finals and give them another chance. Adam was only half a point behind the winner in one of the Midlands heats and his score and overall performance warranted another showing. Watch this space…
