On Saturday 9th June 2012 Talk Is Cheap will be kicking off a series of summer parties at one of Londons best venues in every respect of the word with another line up we feel is no short of incredible!

At a venue armed with a hugely impressive Funktion One rig, a secret basement set up for 150 people, low ceilings, and a fully stocked bar that has played host to an array of house music legends, we felt almost obliged to provide one more HERO of ours to their impressive list which is why we are pleased to announce that we have enlisted the services of US legend Mr Todd Terry (NYC).

Add to that man of the moment and one half of production/DJ outfit Fries & Bridges in Hector Moralez as well as pioneers of the UK garage scene Double 99/R.I.P Productions who are touring for the first time in 10 years and we think you'll agree... we have one hell of a party on our hands!

We fully advise early ticket purchase, not only to save money with a super limited number of early birds but also as it will be the only way to guarantee entry on the night!

Those that have supported us from the word go, we love you dearly as we LOVE what we do and you know what to expect, for those that haven't check out our videos and join us on June 9th :)

Todd Terry (X-Mix Productions/NYC)

Todd the God’, they called him. In the late 80s, Todd Terry was
New York house music. Arguably he invented it, certainly he defined it.

==========================================================

Grammy Award nominated DJ/Producer Todd Terry has been engulfed in dance music since he first started listening to European dance music records while growing up in Brooklyn. Already devoted to turntables, he heard something different in those tracks, and he “went for the difference. I never got a break in New York, but England happened right away, so I catered to them.” In any event, the Todd Terry sound was born.

By 1988, Todd Terry hit big in England and Europe, and his notoriety was making its way back to the U.S. In addition to DJ appearances, Todd was cutting his classic underground tracks A Day In The Life, Weekend, and Can You Party, released under monikers such as the Todd Terry Project, House Of Gypsies, and Royal House, all considered essential and ground breaking.

In the mid 90’s, the Ministry of Sound’s eponymous UK label released A Day In The Life, a collection of Todd Terry tracks that had been causing dance floor panic. That then led the way to a deal with Mercury Records allowing him to set up a context in which to work with his favourite singers and performers. The first release, Keep On Jumpin’ on featured a vocal workout from super-divas Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown, together for the first time ever. The song became a top 10 UK crossover pop hit and worldwide smash. Todd followed with the anthem ‘Somethin Going On’, a top 5 UK crossover pop hit.

All the while, Todd continued to break new ground as a Producer/Remixer. From SNAP to Annie Lennox to George Michael to Bjork, Todd’s mixes bridge the ground between club cool and commercial accessibility. In 1995, his remix for Everything But The Girl’s Missing became a worldwide smash, giving the British duo their first ever hit. He then rode the charts with mixes for Garbage (Stupid Girl), The Cardigans (Love Fool), Everything But The Girl (Wrong), 10,000 Maniacs (More Than This), Jamiroquai (Alright), The Cardigans (Been It), and The Lightning Seeds (You Showed Me),.among others. He also produced a Robin S track (Givin’ You All That I’ve Got) for the multi-platinum Space Jam soundtrack.

INK/Distinctive Records 2005 release The Todd Terry Trilogy: Past, Present & Future on 3 x CD & 10 x 12” vinyl has inspired Todd fans both old and new with over 30 Todd classics and 10 new Todd songs. Todd is also releasing a barrage of new singles on Blanco y Negro, Elementary Group, and Manifesto/Mercury (who are also re-releasing the ‘Keep On Jumpin’ and ‘Somethin Going On’ in 2006). Ministry of Sound has licensed Philippe B Vs. Todd Terry ‘Can You Feel It (Can You Party)’ for a major 2006 release, a new version of the Todd classic Royal House ‘Can You Party’.

Todd Terry All Stars feat. Kenny Dope, DJ Sneak, Terry Hunter, & Tara McDonald’s ‘Get Down’ was released in 2007 on Strictly Rhythm. This red hot single is the first proper original release on the re-launched legendary label.

‘Strictly Todd Terry’ compilation mixed by Todd Terry was released in 2007 on Strictly Rhythm. Todd’s mix follows installments by Masters at Work and Tiefschwarz in this newly launched series.

Todd is one of the world’s most celebrated figures in dance music. With almost two decades of dance floor domination under Todd’s belt the quality of his productions goes from strength to strength. Welcome to the church of house music presided over by Todd the God. Are you a believer?

Hector Moralez (Fries & Bridges / Robsoul Recordings)

==========================================================

Rising from Oakland, California and fast becoming one of house music’s elite, Hector Moralez has paid his dues by working tirelessly from the bottom up. Now in demand at clubs and events throughout the world, Hector Moralez is renowned for his intelligent and soul awakening house music.

Hector’s ambitions began in 1995 at the early age of 17, where he would spend hours practicing on his decks with the vinyl he had just worked hard for at the infamous Primal Records (Berkeley, CA). The knowledge acquired from his 7 years at Primal allowed Hector to develop what has become his resourceful and creative sound. Whether in the studio or performing live behind the decks, Hector’s love, passion and energy is clear to see. He combines sounds influenced by Latin, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and Soul, perfectly joined together by his apparent grooving bass lines and solid, fat beats.

His character, hard work and innovative ability has given him a prominent standing in the house music scene, leading him to become one of the most sought after artists. Previous work includes creating huge hits such as “Forever This” and “Just Because” with occasional partner, Phil Weeks [Paris]. Releases from Hector have enhanced highly respected labels such as Robsoul Recordings, Music For Freaks, Nightshift, Vista, Brique Rouge, Detour, and Doubledown. These popular works have lead to further demand with new releases due out through 2011 on Robsoul, Magnetic, Phobic, Killa Tunes, Lingo and more. Hector also continues to manage and produce for his own distinguished underground labels, Minority Music and The Factory.

Hector sets no boundaries as he expands the limits with his exceptional and versatile approach to producing, interpreting and sharing his version of house music. This attention to detail, evident in all of his work, has led to acclaim from some of house music’s highest ranked artists – DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Doc Martin, Diz, Phil Weeks and DJ Heather.

There’s no slowing down for Moralez, his love and passion for music is never ending.

Double 99 / R.I.P Productions (Ice Cream Records)
icecreamrecords.co.uk

Arguably the biggest name in UK garage are back touring
for the first time in 10 years!

==========================================================

Ice Cream records is set to go down in history as the foremost record label to pioneer the first ever UK Garage cross over, the catalytic bassline track Rip Groove by Double 99.

The creatives behind this ground breaking label, Andy Lysandrou, Tim Deluxe and Omar Adimora started to gather momentum back in 1995, dropping their first release, 'Pick Me Up'.

Between the years of 1995 and early 1997, Ice Cream released some all time underground classics including, 'Deep Inspiration', 'Obsessed', 'Work It', 'Club Traxs vol.1', 'The Players', and 'Move To Jersey'.

As 1996 became ‘97, Ice Cream decided to go all experimental, and with the epic buzz emanating from DJs, record shops, radio, and clubs, they ejected a musical climax with the introduction of their double-pack, featuring two 12" vinyls. Something which for those lucky enough to part with their cash at the time still kicks a beat deep down in the old blood pump.

The double-pack, titled Double 99, featured 8 epic tracks, each with their own unique vibe, with one track really standing out from the crowd: Rip Groove. Released in the March of 1997, demand heavily outweighed supply, and within 3 days this Double 99 sold out in every independent record store from London to Dublin. With demand so high, Ice Cream had to rush release the second batch within 48 hours, with some shops opening until midnight, allowing punters to get a taste of this fresh new flava!

Within a month of its release, Rip Groove was being played in 97% of clubs and radio stations up and down the country. Unbeknown to them at the time, Ice Cream had set a milestone that was about to change the direction of UK dance music forever.

For the first time, it was about to take UK Garage to the National charts.

With the major record labels out in full force, Virgin, Warner’s, BMG, Sony, EMI, XL, a new sound had been championed, and they all wanted a taste.

The demand saw the official release of Rip Groove reach the national charts in October of ‘97, where, through its epic following it went straight to No.1 in 'The Chart Show' and to No.14 on 'Top of the Pops'. Following its unprecedented success, just about every major record label wanted to get in bed with the next garage hit.

Ice Cream continued its journey in 1998, signing Colours, a double AA side including 'Hold On' and 'What U Do', which incidentally went on to become one of the biggest records of the year. Between ‘98 and 2000, and whilst continuing to drip feed records to the masses, Ice Cream, Rip Productions and 10 Below continued to be behind some of the biggest remixes of the time, including: Roy Davis Junior, Gabrielle, Ultra Nate's "Free" (UK No.1), Mighty Dub Cats, and Kele Le Roc.

To date, Ice Cream Records have been involved in over 20 top 40 chart hits inc 5 No.1’s, 14 top 10’s and 8 No.1 dance chart records, and to top it off they were behind the very first UK Garage No 1 selling compilation album.
