Dom Almond
domalmond.com
Dom Almond has been involved in dance music since the early Nineties when he was inspired by the scratch DJ’s and turntablists of the Hip Hop scene and the dirty groove of Electro, Renown for his mixing trickery Dom is more than adept and cutting this up adding his own style to a set, resulting in him being runner up in the Muzik magazine bedroom bedlam competition in 1999, only beaten to the post by the then unknown Yousef.
Dom began carving up fat breaks with grimy electro and funk driven house. Playing alongside the cream of international artists, including the Audio Bully's, Plump DJ's, Stanton Warriors, Seb Fontaine, Eric Prydz, Tim Deluxe, Mutiny, Wayout West, Evil 9, Annie Mac, Adam Freeland, Freestylers, Pendulum, Futreshock, Steve Angelo and Nic Warren. Dom has had a number of releases on HARDCORE BEATS PURE FILTH. His tricks, skill and unique mixing style is exactly what Graffiti Breakz represents, and this one will be a set not to miss.
Mezza Breaks
mezzabreaks.com
From the backrooms of dodgy Kent boozers to playing dance tents at festivals it certainly can't be said that the Mezzas haven't done the rounds. Canterbury boys Thom Burgess & John Ricketts AKA Mezza Breaks started playing together in College as party DJs, mashing up old skool breaks, house and big beat at house parties and local bars.
5 years on Mezza Breaks are fast gaining a reputation for being at the forefront of the Kent breaks scene with a whole host of recognised nights under their belt. Supporting Nicky Blackmarket at Studio 41, Canterbury
With their recent remixes & own productions gaining them respect from their industry peers such as Atomic Hooligan, Jimmy Mofo & Groove Allegiance, 2008 looks bright for the Mezza boys.
Broke DJ's
myspace.com
Broke DJ’s is the amalgamation of two blokes from London who share a love for intelligent drums and ruffneck bass. Logan & Jim have been producing and DJ’ing for the last 4 years and have a distinctive sound which has been refined through many late nights and messy studio sessions. Breakbeat inspired both to get involved in a scene and make their mark however they endeavor to produce almost any tune from any genre.
2007/08 has been very busy with even more big projects on the horizon and plans to push their sound to everybody, everywhere. They will not rest until they have achieved total world domination!
Broke Djs currently hold residency’s at Bloc Control (Consortium) and Enter (Dusk Till Dawn) rinsing out the freshest dub-step and breaks the music scene has to offer.
Simon Holmes
sharkfinrecords.com
As founder of Sharkfin Records Simon Holmes has made a real name for himself in the hardcore breaks scene.
The label is small and homegrown, born from a passion for dance music and in particular oldskool hardcore. The sound is a breakbeat-driven fusion of early 90’s adrenalin and the best of contemporary dance music styles, borrowing elements from d’n’b, nuskool breaks and trance to create lush, atmospheric soundscapes with a sense of history and an eye firmly on the future.
The production under his belt, Simon has been at the forefront of Hardcore breaks for some time, and does not plan to stop creating amazing tracks and unique sounds only associated with Sharkfin.
Silly Pundit & Deeroy
Mixing and matching techno, Electro house, with chunky breaks, and dub, is why Silly Pundit has been a regular face at GB over the last two years, and with the addition of Deeroy brining a fresh sound these two head to head is the only way to get the party started.
Be sure to arrive early to witness these two incredibly talented artists create a unique and exciting intro to the night.
Plus, Graffiti Breakz residents, Skinny & Clarkie & DJ Disowned, bring a chunky tear-out, and hardcore breaks elements. We’ve pulled out the stops for this one. New production in the wings, and new bootleg mash-up mixes perfected, their sets will really be on another level for this special event.
