POP into Red in Soho to help us preview a new charity POP! Moni Viking Princess will be providing her funky grooves for the evening! About POP POP: 'Play Our Part' is a lifestyle organisation. This unique new charity aims to make it easy for people in the UK to assist community projects in the developing world. POP does this by acting as a bridge between its members – and community organisations that work to support people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. POP is an extensive network of young people who want to use the resources they have to make a difference, but rarely have the time to commit. Through a series of activities that masquerade as bar parties etc, POP incorporates their events into the busy lifestyles of our members, by making donating an easy and entertaining experience, all you need to do is show up and have a good time! Our first project Mufindi Orphans "Orphans in the Wild aims to help local communities ensure that children orphaned by AIDS are given sufficient immediate and long-term emotional and material support to feed, clothe and educate them to the end of their compulsory schooling, and to improve the general living standards in an environmentally sustainable manner". This assistance will be supported by the building of a number of mini clinics in the region through the Mufindi Rural Medical Project. Orphans in the Wild is a UK-registered charity – set up to support Foxes Community and Wildlife Conservation, which is a charity registered in Tanzania. Based in the Mufindi region, it is active throughout Southern Tanzania via the network of Foxes' Safari Camps. It was set up in 2005 with the broad aim of helping the chronically poor rural societies of Southern Tanzania improve their standard of life while developing in harmony with their environment. POP is aiming to raise sufficient funds to build one of these houses for 10 Orphans in Tanzania by June 2007. Objectives The aim of the project is to provide as much support as possible to AIDS orphans from within their communities. This means helping their extended families provide them with food, clothing and medical care, and helping them to attend the local primary school. However some orphans will not be that lucky; for them the project is building from scratch an orphanage which will provide shelter, stability and emotional support as well as those basic needs. please pm missvickie for guestlist as we do need to have an idea of numbers in advanced!
