With an ever expanding arsenal of his own productions, remixes and re-edits, Kim's DJ sets have become an opportunity for him to showcase his latest work to some of the worlds greatest dance floors gaining loyal supporters wherever he goes! His re-make of the classic Inner City track "Good Life" was one of the anthems of the summer, being played by pretty much every major DJ on the circuit and taking the white isle by storm!

It's been a massive year for you with gig's in Miami, at Pacha Ibiza, Global Gathering and Creamfields to name a few. What’s been your favourite moment?

I think gig wise it would have to be Creamfields. The atmosphere in there was electric from start to finish. From a production point it has to be Good Life being selected as the Essential Tune on Pete Tongs show. That was a really special moment for me!

What was your first memory of music? And what was the first record you ever bought?
I think my first memory of music would be listening to UB40 in my Dads car when really young. The first EVER records i bought was Rick Astley. I kid you not!

When did you start producing, and how long was it before you were creating tracks that you were happy with?

I'd been dabbling in production since about 2000 but it was about 4/5 years ago that i started getting seriously into it.

Tell us about ‘Good Life’, how did the remix of that come about?

I wanted to done a big track for my sets over the Summer. I think i heard a clip of the original on a TV program or something so started playing around with some parts and i think it was pretty much all done within a few hours. Sometimes it happens like that and others you can spend weeks on it.

Do you have any productions in the pipeline for us that we should keep our eyes peeled for?

Yeah my latest EP is out now on Toolroom's Leaders Of The New School imprint and my Remix of Paul Thomas & Myke Smiths "Waterfalls" track with be out in October. I'm also working on a few other remixes which will be out before the end of the year.

Do you draw inspiration for your work from any other producers? If so who?

I dont think there's only one person specifically really, i think i draw my inspiration from lots of different areas. I might hear something in one track and think "that might go well with this" sometimes is works, and sometimes not but you gotta give it a try.

If you weren’t a DJ/producer, what would you be?

Homeless!

What's your favourite nightclub and why?

Pacha Ibiza. I had my first gig there this Summer and it was amazing. Some where i've always wanted to play.

Marmite, love it or hate it?

Urgh hate it!

Pepsi or coke?

Coke

Kebab or Curry?

Mmm... Curry

You’ve got 48 hours off from the world and £73 quid in your back burner, what do you do?

I take the Mrs away for a dirty weekend. Mud Wrestling, Bog snorkeling the lot!

Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday at Nightowl's Warehouse Party in Shoreditch!
