PROTEUS The legendary fin touches down in the UK to play at the alimighty PARTY PROACTIVE

This article is about PARTY PROACTIVE: 4TH BIRTHDAY @ seOne in London (UK), Sat 08 Mar 2008

Rrrrrrrrrraaaahh!!! With a sweep of his cloak the silver masked demon strides through the smoke, lights flash and darkness falls. The deep and dark beat rumbles and builds until its onslaught shakes the very earth itself and all those who stand before it. Proteus. The Master of Darkness. Bow down and honour!

Proteus. The world’s number one Hard Dance DJ, winner of the Hard Dance Awards in 2004 and 2005, twice ranked in DJ Mag’s Top 100, powers the loins of the global dancing masses with his industrial dark and dirty dance music. For it is music. Just not for the faint hearted.

Proteus. Headliner of spectacular events across the planet, highlights including closing Dance Valley’s 10th Anniversary in front of 60,000 people in Holland, the Creamfield Festival, Logic, Hard House Academy, Antiworld and Torture Garden in the UK, the Zurich Love Parade, tours of Japan, Australia and New Zealand and most spectacular of all, supporting The Prodigy for the Helsinki leg of their world tour.

Those who understand the nature of the beast welcome Him Who Knows to what will be the highlight party of 2008 – Party Proactive’s Fourth Birthday at the SeOne on the 8 March. Those who have yet to experience the full force of His Power – let this Party be the one to show you. Rrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!

A lover of darker styles of the music - goth rock, metal, industrial and all darker genres of dance music - Proteus’s belief in the music he loves helped create the hard scene in Finland from 1996 onwards, from DJing and producing to putting on parties and club nights including the appropriately named Hellfire, Inferno and Sade and hosting the Dark Side Radio programme – no mean feat seeing as there are fewer people living in the whole country of Finland than do in London (5 million approximately).

The creation of a live show with Adam Lab4, his brother’s band, Relic, and Carbon Based, gave Proteus the opportunity to showcase his own tunes in a live setting, being a huge success in Finland and part of Finland’s biggest dance event, Laserpoint - playing as the closing act at the mainstage for 4000 people. A request to remix a track for one of Finland’s biggest bands, Apocalyptica, followed with a new album by Proteus due out this summer including tracks on which he plays the guitar, the line between harder dance music and metal growing ever thinner…

Always one to keep the scene real, Proteus’s auction of his DJ talents on Ebay caused much stir within the clubbing community and much excitement for the party who eventually bought him! - because for Proteus the party and the heart is what matters. With close friends and colleagues Adam and Lez from Lab4 going their separate ways, their influence on his sound gladly admitted to, Proteus flies the flag for music that is as open and fresh to new influences as it is hard! Warming up for Juno Reactor in Finland recently highlighting his love of psy trance (as does his tattoo of the dragonfly record label logo!), the man who walked into a record shop sporting a black Mohawk to request a copy of Chris de Burgh’s ‘Lady in Red’ much to the surprise of the lady behind the counter, continues to delight and shock in equal measures. Perfect then for a party which does the same ?

You can witness Proteus command the stage at Party Proactive’s fourth birthday, 8 March at the SeOne.
