I think Beth was there as a photographer, so had to be there.

Why do you go if you know they have a bad rep?

I agree with Kat - violence should not be a part of raving - it's so far removed from what dance music started off being about it's untrue. You can choose to not go to events where fights break out - there's plenty of them out there.

It is sad if voting with your feet means you can't get the music you want to listen to, but maybe it's the only way you'll get promoters/venues to deal with security properly - from what's been posted in here, this is possible.

A FIGHT CAN START ANYWERE...........

that's true, but I can't remember ever seeing a fight when I've been out dancing. I guess it's more common some places than others

I think the last time I saw a fight at a music venue was in 2002 at Oasis in Finsbury Park - it wasn't frightening - just annoying as you had to keep moving to keep away from it. - loads of pissed up groups of lads. So, not even raving.

when we turned up there was a group of about 7 or 8 lads, maybe more, being thrown out by security. Not being escorted outside - being chucked and dragged out of there kicking and screaming.

We saw one bloke get attacked by 2 others, then bloke was getting stamped on and the shit kicked out of him on the floor.

The staff at the front of the queue to get outside to smoke regularly flapped it from anyone who was a bit bigger than they were.

I was giving out flyers at the end of the night and a load of big hench blokes with huge metal torches wearing clothes that said Police on them, I swear they were not police though they and had been kicking off on people inside

The only times I felt safe in there was at the front of the dance floor dancing, so I stayed there most of the night, and enjoyed myself. But whenever I was walking around I was on edge. That was the first 100% dnb rave I have been to, and it was pretty much how I expected it.

I was wandering about that day, as I lived about 30 yards up the road from it. I've never seen so many discarded Jack Daniels bottles in the gutter.

I had a good time and didn't see much kick off, but then Sophie and me only arrived at about 2 after we had been working and the club seemed to have thinned out a bit. Everyone else that I went with saw fights kicking off, felt on edge and/or had someone take something off them or felt they couldn't take anything of any worth out of their pockets as they would get it taken off them!

HOW EVER IT PISSES ME OFF WEN PEOPLE STERO-TYPE DRUM N BASS RAVES AS SCARY N SHIT [

The majority of our group have been raving to Drum and Bass and going to 100% DnB raves for a fair few years eg One Nation @ Brixton Academy, Breakin' Science, Renegade Hardware @ The Fridge in Brixton to name a few and I think it was more of an observation on Beths part rather than a stereo type, as she hasn't ever felt like this before at these type of events, that would probably, as a general rule, be the pones classed as 'rude' where you would be likely to see trouble or feel intimidated.

I however had a wicked time, I didn't spend a lot of time in room 1 though as it was just too rammed and seems to be where most of the trouble was = S
