This article is about KIDOLOGY 2nd BIRTHDAY TOGA PARTY WITH SICK! ON THE DANCEFLOOR & DIRTY FUNKERS @ seOne in London (UK), Sat 25 Apr
Sick! On the Dancefloor has made its name over the last 3 years as easily one of London's biggest and best promotions. With the focus 100% on creating a second to none party atmosphere, that involves getting the right crowd as much as the right DJ, the Sick! boys, Andy Burby and Dominic Clark have created something the can only be described as seriously special. A mental, no holds barred party atmosphere with the Sickest sounds and quality, up for it DJs regularly attract a 3000 strong crowd of dedicated followers to their spiritual home SEone.
As the brand turns 3 this weekend, and celebrates by hooking up with fellow London brand Kidology for a blinding night at SEone, we caught up with the Sick! DJ's (Andy and Dom) to find out more about the brand and line up the top 10 Sick! moments of all time...
Taking things back to the start, how and when did Sick! On the Dancefloor come about, who came up with the name, where was the first one etc??
The idea pretty much started with two mates wasted in an after party, one of those creative moments when ideas (some good, most rubbish) were flowing, it was defo an "If this was my party i'd...." sort of vibe. We agonised over the name for a few weeks because we knew how important it can be and then in a flash after another long weekend of clubbing, one of us describing how they had been Sick! On The Dancefloor and VOILA!!!? ?
DOMINIC CLARK What were your intentions when you set out? Did you imagine the night would ever end up packing out the 3000 capacity venue SEone?
We felt then as we do now, we just wanted to throw a decent party for us and our mates that was just tune after tune all night where friendly people can let their hair down... We just seem to have more mates now. ?
Which guest DJ has made the biggest impression over the years and why?
It's go to be Will Bailey, we were all such fans of his music and at the time his style blended so perfectly with Sick! He was the first "proper" DJ we booked and really took us a step up. It seems fitting that we are having him back for our 3rd birthday.
If you had the chance to book any DJs in the world for one party, which 3 would you choose? And which 3 people dead or alive would you like to come party there?
DJs would be Sven Vath, Andy C & Micky Slim, all three are No.1 in their own genres. Guests would be Mr T and the twins from Funhouse.
ANDY BURBY
What’s your ultimate vision for Sick! at this point? Is this something you still want to be doing in 10 years time or do you have other things you’d like to achieve?
Obviously any party is always evolving but at the moment we are working hard on taking Sick! back to it's roots, keeping hold of that dirty, intimate vibe that we have thrived on. We've also got a couple of new projects we're working on to keep us ahead of the curve. We're also working on a plan that will let us move to a palace on the beach but not sure if that's gonna pan out ;)
SICK! ON THE DANCEFLOORS TOP 10 MOMENTS.....
Andy and I playing at SeOne, we were going back to back with Micky Slim, Loose Cannons & Stupid Fresh, we were just having so much fun the set times disappeared into a filthy free for all!
Sick! On the Dancefloor at Canvas, walking through the main promoter's empty room (a very big night with a very big DJ playing) into a queue of people trying to get into the Sick! Room, bursting with 400 people raising the roof.... Narcissistic I know but still fun ;)
The opening of the Sick! Techno room, after a whirlwind of a night it finished at 7am and 100 people in a tiny room were still going for it when the club turned off the music. Such an awesome intimate moment.
Appearing in Mixmag as one of their top ten nights in the country, we were really chuffed to think an established industry magazine like Mixmag had even heard of us.
Confirming Will Bailey as our first ever resident, a really massive moment in Sick! History.
Midnight, NYE, the last ever night at the legendary Cross… Sick! On the Dancefloor in the dark arch, I've never felt an atmosphere like it... Just absolute electricity.
After a mental night at SeOne, we carried on to an after party with a couple of our resident DJs (who will remain nameless) then to an after after party etc, and kept going for at least 24 hours and ended up in the weirdest, wildest places. On of the funniest days we've ever had.
One of our very first parties in Muswell hill, when the club closed at midnight after a 12 hour electro marathon, everyone was having such a good time we went to the off license and carried on partying on the pavement outside the club for a good couple of hours.
Being asked to take Sick! On The Dancefloor to Ibiza with the Mixmag parties, it definitely feels like a massive pat on the back for us and something we can't wait to get stuck in to.
Announcing the massive line up for our third birthday party, celebrating the last three years and all that's happened along the way.
