London's biggest club closes - seOne ceases trading

This article is about seOne in London (UK)

The capital's biggest club, seOne, ceased trading yesterday.

In a statement the club's Designated Premises Supervisor, Marcus Kay, told us: "It is with great sadness, that I must inform you that ‘seOne London’ ceased trading on Monday Afternoon, 22nd February 2010.

"After eight long, hard and exciting years, seOne London has fallen victim to the recession and hard times felt in nightclubs all over the UK. I would like to thank all the promoters, DJ’s, clubbers, staff, suppliers and anyone who has worked and partied in these now Legendary railway arches. seOne London 2002 – 2010"

When we spoke to Marcus this morning he told us: "The club couldn't run on Saturdays alone and filling the Fridays and Thursdays became harder and harder. The overheads could not be met."

smoking ban did not help.

Hated how they delt with smokers in there. took up most of the night waiting to go for a cig or to get back in from having one.
Totally agree with DrSuave

It was a shit venue anyway, no acoustics whatsoever, there was actual signs on the walls advertising the car parking prices for when it was a daytime car park! I haven't been since going to a Raindance when it was still the drome when I think 2/3 people actually died?

I'm gona miss SeOne, went to my first rave there and have had many good times. I guess the smoking area could have been dealt with a lot more effectively but from what I know the regulations set by the council were becoming tighter and tighter... I think that SE1 is in the borough of Southwark and I know for a fact that Southwark are the worst fucking council EVER. It also doesn't help that Southwark Cathedral was just around the corner, as well as top tourist attractions, making the rules even tighter still. End of an era, let's just hope that Jacks doesn't have to close... I'd be devastated x

It's sad to see one of London's largest venues go but with weird smoking rules like having to pay for a wristband to smoke, queue for an hour and then stand jammed in the smallest area ever, the rubbish air conditioning and incredibly strict photo id entry policy maybe whoever takes it on will address all the issues which probably contributed to it's closure and a bigger better club will take it's place.

To be honest I've always hated that club, so for me it might means that I end up and nights that used to be held there more :-), guess it is a shame to see another big London venue go though.....

hasn't been like that for years!!
When was the last time you were there ?
It's a proper club now and has been for a while.

It's sad to see one of the few central London clubs shut. London is starting to loose it's big venues in droves now!

hoping that it will be used again as a venue and not turned into something else. . .

The club was terrible, it had a bad sound system and didnt attract the top promotions regularly for a venue of it's size.

But just down the viaduct a new venue (Cable London) is thriving so i doubt it is to do with Southwark council.
