It was a total let down, i used to rave in 89, was waiting to hear loadsa old skool, wanted to hear some Acid, Acid House, glad i only live up the road from the place, it was not worth £25.
Loads of idiots in the place, the floor in the main room was soaked in beer, it was like a huge pub do, the system was crap in both rooms.
Sometimes i think people put on nights promising this that and the other and maybe forget that there were a lot of people who went raving in 89 just for the music and the buzz, and unfortunately a lot who just done it because it was the "in" thing........
Best thing was i got to see some mates who are from Shepherds Bush like myself who i had not seen for years.
All in all, as a rave night, shite is the word............and it's the same view my mates have as well.
Not everyone is a fool, the sheep just don't know any better.

Peace

Cheers, just being honest.

One thing i learned is this, if people don't know any better, then anything will do,
I don't mean to sound negative about the characters who run the night but it was not as advertised.

Peace, and happy new year!!

I was so disappointed 2, I love Promised Land normally. Ive never been 2 Shepherds bush empire b4, but i deff wont be going back. We were meant 2 be going 2 Moondance (wish we had, as we always know we gonna have a wicked nite at Moondance!), but Dj Huck Finn told us about this night, and it sounded so good that we changed our minds.

We ended up leaving by 1.30am (Sorry Huck!).

It was full of idiots, fights kicking off, the bar staff were rude, we waited half hour 2 put our coats in, another half hr 2 get a drink, the beer on tap tasted horrible & the bars running out of some drinks by 12.30am. The bouncers were so rude on our way in, bar staff wouldnt let us keep the lid on the water! WTF. The dance floor was so sticky and Dirty by 11pm. Ques for the toilets were so long! The whole place looks like it needs a makeover!

The normal Promised Land ravers were no where 2 be seen, now we know why!

Philgood & Ram did play a wicked set as always, with wicked tunes, didnt manage 2 hear anyone else really b4 my mates dragged me out of there!

Anyway, rant over, lets look forward 2 the next Promised Land @ a better Venue next time please guys!!

Happy New year everyone!

xx

i've been a regular at PL for several years and i actually had a really good night. the back of the main room was stupidly rammed but i was on the dancefloor all night and it was comfortably full and the vibe was great. that and the layout of the room really took me back to the Scala days.

it was ridiculously cold though (did they have fans on?!) and it was very slippery underfoot. i was expecting a PA by Torville & Dean! ;)

yeah, i hate that (they do the same thing at the Brixton Academy which is part of the same chain) ...but i'd rather have trainers and no bottle caps at the Empire than caps and no trainers at Koko! plus once i know the venue's policy i can take a bottle cap with me. ;)

I was gutted with the whole night :( :(
Not enough staff, staff that were there were soo rude - there is just no need for it, running out of drinks so early on, the venue was filthy and there wasn't enough toilets to cope with amount of people!
Tunes i heard before our early departure were good but thats it!!!

Even though I had booked my tickets as soon as night was announced I still had to queue at box office for 40 mins and then join main queue for entry. Ended up abandoning the night as was not going to be in the venue b4 12am. Loads of people kicking off outside, bouncers were rude, no true promised land vibe.

Roll on Koko

We had the same thing, we joined the main que, as we were told 2, then ques for about 20mins only to be told to go to the box office, the qued at the box office, then had to go back to the back of the main que which we qued in for about another 30mins.

Lets hope the next Promised Land is back at Koko, or evenm better another venue where we can all wear Trainers! xx

I think it was let down by the venue, ended up getting pushed and shouted at as we all squashed in queues for the toilets. The floor was drenched, the draught beer tasted like fizzy water, we were told by the bouncers that we were not aloud out to have a smoke till after midnight (got there at 10). But on a positive note Philgood and Ram were great but I left at 2am as the floor was so wet, people were slipping over.
But overall it was good, but next time at another venue.

I'm gathering from peeps comments that PL are usually better than on NYE, i'd rather hear a mix first before i go to one of their nights.
Just like my mates i'm 40, used to hit the Acid parties in 89, had loads of parties at my house in 89, i remember the vibe, the music ( and the round things) etc....As far as we are concerned playing random tunes from that era anyone can do, playing them right is the key. (some might say it's relative)
We held our own nights in the 90's and killed it, went to all manner of parties, indoor, outdoor, traveller, squat and yet i still need educating on the PL crew.
My friends and i arrived not long after midnight, i never heard not one Acid track, and i love Acid.
I have been listening to Acid and House since then, even the harder Acid that was out in the 90's.
Can't stand Hardhouse, or that crap they consider as "hard" because it's fast.....dumb.
If somebody can, give me a mix from one of their other nights if that is even possible.
My aim is not to upset anybody, but the rollercaoster ride was not the same for everyone.
I suppose that maybe the old skool that my friends and i talk about is not the "old skool" that is advertised nowadays eh.....lol
If it wasn't for those choons back then, who know's what the state of music would be now, considering, "I've Lost Control" by Sleazy D was made in 86 and it's a great Acid track, but thats just my view.

Peace.
