La Vita's 1st Birthday goes with a bang!!
had been looking forward to one weekend in particular for a good couple of months. On Easter weekend the urge to let loose and enjoy myself was strong and there was only one place to be - Studio Valbonne - for La Vita’s 1st birthday!!

Going into this event there was a great deal of hype, and rightly so. Glancing over the line-up, I had to look twice!! There were one or two relatively unknown DJ’s other than that, all I could see were DJ’s such as the Hoxton Whores (who were the warm-up!) and many others who, on any other night, would have been headlining. When I found out the headliners were Todd Terry and Micky Slim, I could hardly contain my excitement!

I arrived at the venue just after 9pm and I have to admit, it took quite a while to find it as it was tucked away in a backstreet off Regent Street. When I got into the venue I realised why the La Vita team had selected Studio Valbonne as the venue for their first birthday. To say the inside was absolutely gorgeous would be an understatement. Everything just reeked of class.

The atmosphere was amazing, I remember at one moment, at about 10:30pm, there were just a few people starting to really get into it and then in no more than 10 minutes the venue was absolutely rammed! And I mean rammed! By this time Miss Devine was into one of her typically brilliant sets (yes, I am biased as she is one of my favourite DJs) and the crowd went wild to tune after banging tune.

Now, I will have to admit, after just finishing a pain in the arse week at work I was little more than intoxicated by 11pm, as anyone who bumped into me (or I bumped into!) would have realised! However, in the morning despite my inebriated state the night before, I hadn’t forgotten my absolute favourite set of the night. Now you’re probably thinking it was Todd Terry, well he was very good as you’d expect, but that wasn’t the one! Have you guessed it yet? No? It was in fact Micky Slim! Anyone who has seen this man play his set will surely agree that he absolutely rocked the place! In the little back room of Studio Valbonne you could barely move, and the atmosphere was nothing short of spectacular! I believe this was not only down to the music he was playing, but also down to the man himself getting the crowd going with his amazing energy. I have no problem going on record predicting that Micky Slim will be going straight to the top.

There are other acts who should also be mentioned, the lovely Laura on the Sax and Deano on the drums, both of whom added that little extra something to the night.

In conclusion it was everything I expected of the 1st birthday of La Vita, and then some! Hats off to the La Vita team for all the hard work you put in and thank you for throwing such a spectacular and incredibly successful night!

The La Vita team: Miss Devine, James Hardy, Caroline Harrington, Kamilla

Ratings (Out of 5, 1=Poor 5=Amazing)
Atmosphere - 5, DJ’s – 5, Promoters - 5, Crowd – 4, Overall – 5

I don’t think we’ve had a top scoring night yet so this shows you just what I thought of everything that La Vita did.
This summer you can catch the La Vita team at Hush in San Antonio, Ibiza. They will be pumping out the best in House and Electro on the island!
