T Bar confirms closure

T Bar will close close its doors, an official statement confirms. This news follows a seres of widespread reports of the the club's closure this morning, sparked after members of the venue's facebook group were sent a mesage last night.

The official statement reads as follows:

T BAR Closes Its Doors

6 years of top London venue comes to an end

www.tbarlondon.com

After six and a half years of incredible music, outrageously good times and spectacular memories, T BAR has decided to finally close its doors for good. The decision is a result of a change of heart, change of climate and a need by those involved to move forward in a different and fresh direction.

The love and support that T Bar has received over the years from some of the most high caliber DJs, fans and music lovers has meant it has become firmly established as one of East London's most admired institutions for quality dance music. Initially starting out in the Tea Building on Shoreditch High Street, during its reign it hosted some of the most talked about parties in London and beyond such as Wrong Meeting, Stink, Dig Your Own Rave and Kubicle and welcomed the likes of Michael Mayer, Jamie Jones and Andrew Weatherall. For six years T Bar strived to showcase a unique and vast army of talent and all without charging for admission.

T BAR's move last year to Houndsditch enabled new opportunities to broaden their musical spectrum, introduce new nights and residencies and secure rare performances from more high profile acts such as Groove Armada, Riva Starr, DJ Pierre and Marshall Jefferson. This partnered with a change in London's climate led to a change in pricing policy earlier this year.

Sadly London's recovery was not as speedy as all had hoped and T BAR's goodbye comes amidst the sad demise of other well respected venues around London, which makes it all the more hard to swallow. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who spent time to make T Bar what it was and cementing it firmly in the hearts and minds of so many people across the globe.

This is the latest in a string of club closures that have hit the capital in recent months. Matter shut for the summer a few weeks ago, while Fabric, though remaining open, has been put up for sale. The news will come as a huge disappointment to London's club community, while T-Bar famed for its pioneering free door policy and cutting-edge music.

T Bar announces closure, say reports

T Bar has become the latest London club to close its doors, according to widespread internet reports. It's the latest in a string of recent club closures to hit London, with Matter shutting its doors for the summer, and Fabric, though open, going up for sale.

A message reportedly sent out to members of the venue's facebook group last night announced the closure:

"It is with great sadness that I have to announce that T Bar is now closed. After six and a half years of incredible music, outrageously good times and spectacular memories we are calling time on the T Bar rave.

Thanks to you all for your support, loyalty and for making T Bar the special place it has been for so long...

Big love. The T Bar boys and girls"

As yet, however, the club is yet to release any official statement, either on their website or related facebook groups and pages.

T Bar, originally famed for its free entry policy and cutting-edge line-ups, moved from Shoreditch to to its current venue in Houndsditch, East London, last year. The move saw it begin charging for events for the first time, and this, combined with the controversial new venue, may have contributed to the reported closure.

Nevertheless, this will be a huge shock and disappointment to clubbers not only in London, but across the UK and Europe.

Check back here for the latest news on the closure, and statements from the club.

Do It Launch Party @ TB/R Thursday May 6th

DO IT! is a brand new Bi Monthly Thursday that promises to inject the fun back into London's Thursday nigh Clubbing. If it's got a load of BASS and makes the Dance Floor go nuttz we'll play it.

Mark O'Sullivan – DK7 versus the Rave Commission

Possibly the only Irishman to be part of the Swedish electro and techno scene, O'Sullivan’s first forays into electronica were in the late 90s as The Mighty Quark and his remix of Leftfield’s Chant Of A Poorman. But he’s also been a pivotal part of labels such as Ireland's ORK(With Fish Go Deep), Trevor Jackson's much-missed Output Records, John Dahlback's Pickadoll and Kill Brique ... And then of course there is his main project, DK7…
