Slackers Convention Boatparty- Top of The Class!!!
You can't beat a good boat party. All hands on deck, thrashing the tunes and watching the world go by. Even as the weather gets all too British there's always room for one more. Something about the finite space and the fact that you're all in it together for a good 5 hours (no 'one in-one out' here mate), makes it feel more like a private party than a floating club.

When we first boarded the trusty Sundance at Temple Pier in London for the Slackers Convention it almost seemed too 'private party'- like we were crashing someone else’s high school reunion. It appeared that everyone knew everyone else. All the shouted greetings and meetings with hugs and kisses truly looked like the coming together of all the old mates. I must admit to being nervous at that point that the crowd might be a bit closed off to newcomers. Very shortly though, my fears were calmed.

Yes, many people did indeed know each other but most just recognised each other from their journey en masse from Brighton, a previous club night or from the Don't Stay In.com website. It was a convention after all. Several people commented on the night how fantastic it was to see people they hadn't seen in ages or to meet people face to face for the first time. It really was a happy crowd that mixed and mingled throughout the boat's three decks.

The DJs too were having fun and the crowd was definitely feeling the love. On the main deck, break beats blended with electro like coffee with cream - old school, new school and all the funky beats in between kept us all hoppin’. Downstairs the tunes had a harder edge with a bit more funky tech than breaks but even with the ebb and flow, both dance floors were kept well populated until they kicked us off and pointed us in the direction of the after party at the Key in Kings Cross.

When we arrived at the after party, I couldn’t help being reminded of a school reunion once again. This time however, it was the ‘Nu Skool’ and we too were greeted with shouts, hugs and kisses by all the other Slackers we’d met on the boat. Never have I been to a club with such a full on party vibe! The DJ’s were rockin’ and could do no wrong. Every single person was friendly and smiling, lovin’ it, up for it, on the dance floor, hands in the air, reachin’ for the lasers, safe as funk!

Shucks... thanks hun!

I am glad you enjoyed the vibe. We are very proud of the atmosphere that we have achieved and indeed a convention we are in name and in nature. There are many people who have been brought together by the convention that is slack and many a long term friendship has been born out of it.... We even have a slackers wedding on the horizon!

Congrats again for winning the competition, glad the night left you with fond memories! New faces are always welcome at slackers and I hope to see you again. We have loads more wicked nights up our sleeves and hope you can make it down to some of them!

Next event is a free all-dayer and BBQ at the Hub in Brighton on 7th October 3pm-1am. Then we have Chris Carter, Minui, Mr Sushi and more at the Concorde 2 in Brighton on 21st October... We are also doing New Year at the Concorde 2 and will be venturing up to London again soon for a massive knees up (details to be revealed shortly).

Thanks again for your comments.... its always good to hear from a new perspective... we have posted your review on our web site and hope thats ok wit you. x x x x
