DSI Meet Up - February
I'm thinking the Big Chill House in King's Cross. Nice and central and near a major station.

Who's up for this?

We used to do this drill where you'd stand on the byeline of a football pitch. You'd run to the 6 yard box and back, then penalty area and back, halfway line and back, furthest penalty area and back, then the furthest 6 yard box and back and then through the other end of the pitch. All at pace. Fucking killed.

Sounds a bit like the bleep test, fuck that!

I'm well out of shape compared to what I used to be, but I'm getting back into it now, I'm getting married in 4 months, so I want to get back to my former, super-fit glory!

Me too! Now I've given up the cigs it seems like the perfect time to get fit again.

U still doing that? Christ well done mrs, I tried, for two hours. :/ Then I tried to cut down to 10 from 15 and inadvertently increased to 30.

Does anyone take pics of progress? My fella suggested that I was like....hmmm ermmm urrrghhhhh.

I know darlin! I am actually quite proud two of my house mates smoke too, I'm just not missing it AT all through the week, only at weekends when I've had a drink or whatever...then it's tough. No point avoiding social situations though might as well just get on with it!

Welllllll I think taking pics of progress is a really mint idea, massively motivating if you can actually SEE changes...sometimes in a week there's a difference, also if you fall off the wagon it's a good way of focusing again by looking back at them!

yeah only 20 times the size. About 10 years ago I was really fit and I actually really used to enjoy that exercise because I was one of the best in the club (of about 70 players) at it. We trained twice a week and played Saturdays and Sundays. If I didn't have a game had this 7 mile route mapped out which I'd run instead.

But then as I got more into my clubbing, DJ'ing and stoning, my commitment went down rapidly until I ended up stopping playing about 5 years ago. I would quite like to get back to that level of fitness again at some point, but I can't see it happening anytime soon.

I don't think I'll ever be very fit ever again the gym is torture, I've lost a bit of weight since NY but because I'm doing exercise and trying to eat less I am just finding that I am hungry all the time probably because it's all being burnt off at the gym. Can't seem to find the balance between eating the right amount of the right thing and doing exercise.

Thats awesome going, hats off to ya on the cigs thing!!!

Yeah I'm starting to wonder about the pics thing, I down own scales and I dont go on them in the gym, purely for the fact that I only really care about dress size not weight. It would be nice to see a difference made!

Change what ur eating maybe? I eat rice, I barely need any to keep me full from lunch till after the gym! I used to be like that, but recently I've changed my diet and find my appetite is totally stable & i never eat till im full :)

I've changed it I'm eating all the right things but in a way if you're going to the gym you sort of need to eat more of the right thigns rather than less and I am still trying to get my head around the concept of losing weight but eating more.

I really do not like the gym at all, naturally you compare yourself with everyone else in there and I just find it so de-motivating. Also it's an absolute sweat pit bla bla bla I just find it insanely boring.

Personally I like getting outside more than anything! Bit of fresh air!

The eating thing is what I struggle with the most, I try planning for the day in the morning and whenever I am hungry in between meals I just eat fruit or drink a glass of water which is harsh but it works. I think the worst is when your not massively over weight and have about a stone to lose, it's much harder to get off.

I've never really liked the gym. Always preferred to be running about outside. I'm not fussed about building muscles. I'm an artist, I don't need them. Just don't want to get fat and boost my energy levels

I think i still have a fairly decent core fitness level. I can do steady pace running for ages. Changes of pace and direction is where I'm lacking. The sharpness has gone completely.

Yeah that's where I am at I only have a stone to lose and it's hard to shift I've lost about 5-6lbs and now I've hit a brick wall.

See I quite like that, if I go to the gym I always see the same people in there so they must be there a lot and it makes me realise what a lazy bastard I am and makes me want to do something about it. I'm going to gym box at the moment which is a lot more fun than a normal gym and doesn't stink as much as either, I was recently beaten up by a girl in there though which was quite de-motivating.

Football thankfully keeps me relatively fit. My mrs reckons she's gonna get a Wii Fit board for my Wii when we move in though so may end up getting roped into some of that as well.

That said, had a go on my mate's Xbox Kinect thing the other week and the games on there really did give you a good cardio work out.

Think we just played the Athletics game that came with the sports package but he does have T&F.

I managed to cut my head open jumping a hurdle stood underneath a solid metal lampshade. Still got the cut on my head now haha! What a dick!

I'm gonna start ice skating once a week again, I don't care so much about being mega healthy but would like to tone up a bit and 4 or 5 hours a week booting it around the rink is a great workout and not boring, shit or generally feel like exercise.
