insignificant Others

Dave iO: DJ and one-half of production duo insignificant Others.

Originally from Warrington in the north of England, Dave first began DJing back in 1993, spinning hip-hop and house music.

After playing throughout the 1990s at clubs around Manchester and Liverpool, he enrolled at Salford University for a sound technology course where he met Nick (iO) McCall. The two became best friends and would later both move to London, combine their studio kit and experience, and begin work together as insignificant Others.

Their first release Its Me in October 2003 gained support from many of the top DJs including Tim Deluxe, Lottie, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada (who even included the track on their own Doin It After Dark mix album). It also made it into the DMC Buzz Chart. With subsequent releases such as Milk and Use My X also gaining big support and denting the various dance charts, the iOs were firmly established.

In 2006, Dave & Nick launched their own record label 'iO Music', in partnership with New State Entertainment. The label is a platform for their own productions as well as an outlet for any other music that happens to catch their collective ears. After Kicking off to a great response with King Rocs Better Ways, iO Music has gone from strength to strength with releases from Dislodged & Mogul, the iOs themselves, and bright new talent Tommy Four Seven. With upcoming releases from Tocadisco and Yoshimoto, things are looking pretty good. Watch this iO space

The boys have also created soundtracks for numerous high-profile TV productions and commercials.

As well as continuing to work in the studio as insignificant Others, putting together a debut studio album and preparing for a live iO show, Dave is now carving out a solo DJ career to satisfy his need to DJ! Over the years, he has developed his skills to a standard where he can truly read the crowd and adapt to a particular club or situation to give people exactly what they want. An intuitive, flamboyant DJ who isnt afraid to take the odd risk to give the crowd something different.

Playing style: House / Electro / Techno / Minimal / Breaks... and tricks!
