There are some New Year’s resolutions none of us intend to keep – namely those surrounding vices and late nights. In that case, allow us to help you begin the year as you intend to end it – another crazy late night session with Angel’s renowned hedonistic Pulp crew.
Having ended 2006 on an incredible high with a capacity crowd (1 in / 1 out from 11:30pm) saw a stellar deep house warm up from Claudio AM, a fantastic jacking electro selection from Chris Braun followed by serious back2back set from Brad212 & Kerry Wallace before a 3am closee by those crazy Cheshire Catz. The Chapel Bar was rocked to its very foundations with 300 grinning, Santa-hat-sporting maniacs who came out to party until the small hours and then ventured, en masse, to the after party at Meet where our very own Brad 212 & Kerry Wallace stole the show. So its with wind in our sails that Pulp charges into 2007 with the first of two heavy hitting January events.
While focusing tightly on an underground music policy, where previous guests DJs have included Clint Lee (Papadiso), Sophie Oliver (Retox), & The Cheshire Catz (Fakt Recordings), Lee Jarvis is a great headliner for our 12th January event. We just couldn’t resist asking Claudio AM back for another immaculate deep house warm up before residents Nick Maleedy, Kerry Wallace & Brad 212 Finlay take things up, down and inside out with their broad ranging electronic influences before our special guest takes things up a notch.
With the current 3am license and recently sound proofed, renovated and redesigned 220 capacity ground floor, The Chapel Bar is an ideal location for a new event of this caliber. Pulp succeeds where other parties of this size fail because those booking the DJs, drawing the crowds and marketing the night are out in the scene, using their contacts and keeping abreast of current trends. Adding this to the recently boosted 4500W Turbosound PA system means that The Chapel Bar is more than your average DJ bar and PULP is very pleased to welcome one of the hot emerging talents on the jacking house scene.
Lee Jarvis is one of the freshest house music DJs on the scene at the moment. With many different influences, Lee plays his own unique blend of jackin house, yet can include anything from jazzy, deeper touches (west coast US style), to downright funky-ass beats (Chicago style), to techier, acid-riffed (UK style) monsters in his sets. His energy definitely shows in every set and he is unafraid to drop any tune when he has the crowd right where he wants them.
So for those looking for an underground musical experience, a late night party and a switched on crowd to get down with, PULP is your only choice in the area.
