way way oversold = greed
what was supposed to be the closing event at one of londons better club venues steeped in history was ruined by the greed of the organisers. many many of us have had some of our best nights at this club and it is some of those i will think back on,not this years new years eve debarcle.

havng paid an exhorbatent 70 odd quid to get in there was nowhere to settle and have a dance which is why i was there in the first place. how can you as promoters oversell such an anticipated event that you gave out refunds on the door and left people with paid for tickets standing outside with a one in one out situation.

shame on you space,it really was all about the money for you guys. it cost me thirty five pounds an hour to decide that enough was enough and finally leave the worst night out ive ever had.

i sincerely hope that the next night you put on is a none event and you lose most of the ripped of money you cheated too many decent clubbers out of.

I agree with all of the above. I couldn't wait to leave the place. I was lucky enough to not have to experience the one in one out thing, but I did have to queue for a long time and only just made it in for midnight. Was planning on staying for the after party but was so uncomfortable there we left around 3-am. I trekked down from Liverpool to go along with 15 other friends, some of whom had never been to the cross. We all left extremely annoyed with the greedy organisers. Also, did anyone get anything extra for the 'VIP' ticket price?? I was at least expecting to not have to queue?!? Im sorry to say it but after that I'm glad the place has closed down. Made up for it with a great after party back at house.;-)

I agree as well, only stayed for a few hours. I have been going to the cross for around 11 years and it was always my favorite club, however this was just pure greed, oversold and well over capacity, I would say dangerous levels if there were to be a fire or some other disaster. I am sure however that as it was the last night the club didn't care as long as they got as much out of it as possible. People were still in the que when I left. I did plan to stay to the afterparty, instead I left very early with it being my worst new years eve and worst night ever at the cross.

I would love to hear other comments here from anyone else who felt the same.

I agree with everyone on here!!!!!
My partner and I arrived there and had to wait for 2 HOURS with VIP tickets, we were guaranteed queue jump like all the other vips on here. I paid extra for a ticket that gave me no perks wat so ever.

Secondly I turned around to speak to my partner and the door staff/security turned around and shouted in my face to SHUT UP, i looked at him and said excuse me, I was talking to my partner and it had no relevance to anything or anyone there, then he told me I was a stupid girl and If i answered back again I would not be allowed in. Did this guy think he was my father'? Again I replied that I was talking to my partner and was told to shut up again.
Is this really how to treat sum1 who was being completely curteous waiting for 2 hours to get into a club?????? I understadn they could be stressed due to the massive queues but reserved that attitude and behaviour to sum1 who deserves it!!!!

Thirdly, I paid for my ticket and I knw I had to show my card to be allowed in, BUT people with actual paper tickets in their hand were being called in to go on in before us even though our 'virtual' tickets had also already been paid for, we asked why and the lady just told us that poeple with tickets had the right to enter first??

Whats going on here? We both travelled to London expecially for this night and paid extra for a ticket when I might aswell have paid less as regardless of what was paid and what the tickets allowed us to do we were all treated the same!!!!

Why would over book the club in these numbers and why wud you let the drink supplies run down so quickly??

I would like my money back, can anyone help me with contacting sum1? Cause I hope u all agree but the night was a disaster!!!!! Very disappointed The Cross

questions
1: Why were VIP guests not given Wristbands on arrival, how did the club intend to identify the people who had prepaid for the afterparty at the end of the main event?
2: Why was there no designated area for VIP guests?
3: Why were the advertised admission times not kept?
4: How did the venue intend to control the numbers entering?
5: As an all ticket event why did the venue not insist on a schedule of guests attending, surely at an all ticket event they have a legal responsibility to know how many ticket holders will attend.
summary:
It appears that the venue cared little for their reputation as it was there closing party, it seems scandalous that people who had paid a considerable amount of money for admission were turned away. i for one didn't even have a drink in my hand at midnight (They closed all the bars) i stood and watched the staff toasting the new year with champagne!
I never danced being stood on and elbowed in the face isn't really all that much fun, even if it was accidental.
House party for me GAWD I must be getting old!
Hope you all have the very best 2008 you can possibly have.
