Music : Breaks

New Zealand ex-pat Darin McFadyen better known as Freq Nasty has been busy demolishing genre distinctions since the release of his first album ‘Freaks, Geeks & Mutilations’ & continues to do so with his most recent contribution ‘Bring Me The Head of Freq Nasty’ on Brighton based label Skint. A stalwart purveyor of the grittiest and most ample bass lines & frequencies, his DJ sets are a lively patchwork of techno, hip-hop, breakbeat, drum & bass, garage and jungle. Freq Nasty continues to carve a radical aural geometry & listeners can expect to find themselves zoning into a portal of tough, quirky diamond drenched breakbeats.

After completely ravishing the dance floor back in March, breaks virtuoso BLIM returns for yet another ear wrenching performance. An exceptionally gifted producer, his 2003 collaboration with Rennie Pilgrem ‘2freaks’ on TCR is quite possibly the greatest breaks track ever produced. With his most recent release on Track Records hyped to be his finest release to date & a scarily brilliant remix of Flaksu tune ‘Toddler’ on Chi Recordings in the pipeline it’s clear that his copious talent is harnessing a new level of intensity. His DJ sets are overflowing with cheeky fun and are always a bold and mischievous adventure into the proggier side of tech flavoured breaks. Magnifico!!

After escaping relatively unscathed from the sweaty environ of Brixton’s Bug Bar, Found Sounds are proud to re-launch their ‘Sonorous’ soiree in the lounge, with this storming party line up of some of the UK’s hottest beat and break led talent… Treva Whateva – Mr Scruff’s right hand man celebrates his debut album release with a two hour set of classics and exclusives; The Nextmen – one of the UK’s premier Beats production units will be gracing the lounge with more block party antics; The Psychonaughts – Taking a night off from production on the forthcoming UNKLE album this is a rare opportunity to see one of the most energised DJ’s within the crate diggin’ scene & Found Sounds – DJ Magazines’s very own ‘Leftfield’ scribes will be hosting the evening, topping and tailing with their inimitable brand of discerning beats for ze feets!
