FREQ NASTY returns to CHEW THE FAT! in April along with Groove Diggerz, Baobinga & ID and Mole and Aya By missmax - Fri 16 Mar 2007 - 31 comments
Music : Breaks
CHEW THE FAT! @ THE END Friday 13th April with special guests… FREQ NASTY(Skint) BAOBINGA & ID (Fat!) MOLE AND AYA (Boombox) GROOVE DIGGERZ (Even Flow) PAUL 'TROUBLE' ARNOLD (Fat!) SOUTHPAW (Sinister) FOR FAT! TICKETS: http://www.thefatclub.trinitystreetdirect.com/ In the lounge: Bloom Festival presents... THE BEGINERZ FREAKS (DJ Set) KID FIESTA (Bloom) JONNY AY (Bloom) ROB FRANCIS (Square Music) £12/£8 NUS; 10pm-6am The End, 18 West Central Street, London, WC1A 1JJ Info: 0207 924 1333/www.thefatclub.com Dress code: Trainers OK Capacity: 1,000 One of the pioneers of breakbeat from the start, New Zealand’s finest export Freq Nasty continues his long-standing association with Chew The Fat! with his first appearance of 2007. Last time he appeared at The End he tore up the main room with his own unique bass heavy assault, and we’re expecting nothing less tonight. Currently spending at least half the year in the US, his UK gigs are even more of a rarity nowadays, so there’s no excuse for missing out on this one. Joining him will be two more of breaks’ hippest young gunslingers, Baobinga & ID (Monday 9th April sees the release of their third single for Fat! records). Entitled ‘Recognise’ and backed up by a remix from Lot49’s Vandal, it’s a stomping electro breaks monster that has been smashing dancefloors of late, and has been licensed to Krafty Kuts’ forthcoming Fabriclive CD. Expect a genre mashing set of cutting edge grooves from these two. Groove Diggerz are the Reading-based duo who recently took the ‘Breakthrough Producer’ gong at Breakspoll 2007 to cap off a highly successful year. With tracks such as ‘Jelly Head’, ‘Nu Skool Rock’ and ‘Check This Love’, they’ve quickly trademarked their own unique take on the funky breaks sound. With a successful tour of Australia under their belt and a Soul Of Man remix on the way, their future looks very bright! Also joining us is Sinister Recordings co owner Southpaw who has a track coming out on the label in May called ‘Wasted Youth’ under the ‘Badlands’ moniker featuring Mary Leay. Mole & Aya are the brains behind Boombox records, one of the longest running dedicated breaks labels in the world. Mole was one of the original residents at Chew The Fat!, meaning that alongside resident Paul Arnold, tonight’s line up is the perfect balance of established names and new talent. And with Bloom Festival hosting the lounge with sets from The Beginerz, Freaks, Kid Fiesta, Jonny Ay and Rob Francis, tonight is going to be another top quality night’s entertainment from Chew The Fat! FOR FAT! TICKETS: http://www.thefatclub.trinitystreetdirect.com/
