Chewing the Fat with the Plump DJs

With a new album on the horizon, and the tantalising prospect of Troublestock just around the corner, one half of the Plump DJs Lee Rous takes time to answer a few questions.....

Info

Music : Jackin House, Deep House, Acid House, Electro, Big Beat, Breaks, Funky Techno, Hip Hop and Funk

One of the unsung heroes of UK dance music, pioneering drum n bass & breakbeat label boss/club promoter Paul ‘Trouble’ Arnold was diagnosed with Leukemia in November last year. Upon the news the Chew The Fat! crew were inundated with offers of help, and so it was decided to concentrate all efforts on one massive fundraising event... Troublestock!

It is testament to Paul’s immense popularity, and far-reaching influence, that some of the biggest names in dance music have agreed to go head to head for a truly unique party, the like of which has rarely been seen anywhere in the UK unless you’re at a festival!

The line-up in the main room garners the great and the good from the breakbeat scene that Paul did so much to foster and develop whilst it was still in its infancy. The highlight has to be The Plump DJs and Stanton Warriors going head to head for the first time ever, while the rest of the scene is well represented to say the least - Krafty Kuts, Freestylers, Evil Nine, Atomic Hooligan, Tayo and Rennie Pilgrem are all making appearances.

Anybody who has been following Chew The Fat! over the past two years will know it’s not just about the breaks though. If house is more your bag you’re not going to be disappointed with James Zabiela, NIc Fanciulli, Paul Woolford, Yousef, Serge Santiago and Will Saul among the highlights in AKA, alongside a special performance from festival faves The Cuban Brothers and Bestival main man Rob Da Bank dropping by too.

Not content with getting the best of the breaks and house worlds involved, in The Lounge its a real mixed bag, with crazymofomashup sounds from the kings of ‘fidget’ Speakerjunk, The Count Of Monte Cristal and Sinden going head to head, Radio 1 hipster Kissy Sell Out, a beats-fest from king of the funky beat A-Skillz, and deep house from Toby Tobias and X-Press 2’s Diesel.

All proceeds from the night will go to supporting Paul as he makes his long recovery from Leukemia. If you know Paul, you’ll want to come to support him. If you don’t, there’s no reason not to be there for this once in a lifetime lineup! For more information head to:
