RIOT! THE END
Sunday 18th January 2009
The End, West Central St, London WC1
1400-2200hrs
Get the Fcuk Riot! In - Seminal Sunday session returns to The End for the last dance
In 2001, Riot! burst onto the global club consciousness in a riot of colour and noise and set London’s club scene alight. Taking over Sunday afternoons for an all day session of hard and funky house music at one of the most popular club venues on the planet it wasn’t long before queues stretched around the block and Riot! became more of a statement of intent than just another party.
Riot! Sunday sessions drew a fanatical following of die-hard fans with members of the ‘Riot! Crew’ flying in weekly from Amsterdam, Scotland and Ireland as well from all over the UK. It became the spot for dance industry and scene queens to gather to listen to the cutting edge sounds from the a-list residents and let their hair down after another long weekend playing or promoting.
The party has breed a host of talent including Ed real who now head up leading download company Trackitdown.net . BK who is of course still at the top of his game in the world of hard dance while over in Bar Riot!, Tom Neville has continually smashed the top of the UK charts with remixes of tracks like ‘I See Girls’ and acts such as Ting Tings. Martin ‘King Roc’ Dawson is now at the forefront of the house world with key releases on; Buzzin’ Fly, Dessous, Four:Twenty etc while Ed’s younger brother Tom Real represents the grittier side of electro and breaks with his partner in crime uber-producer Rogue Element (himself a Riot! mainstay).
In 2003, Ed and BK left their day jobs at the head of the massive award-winning Nukleuz Records to concentrate on Riot! In 2008 the Riot is now headed up bk Bk and Scott Atrill is still releasing anthems and gearing up for some new club nights . Ed director of leading download business Trackitdown.net with Nolan Shadbolt, another key Riot! promoter from the crazy days.
With this pedigree and experience, it’s no surprise that The End have asked back this legendary team for the last official Sunday party in the history of the venue. The following weekend after the event, the club will shut its doors forever but it’s going out with a Riot!
Ajay Jayaram, Head of Promotions is more than happy to see the old gang back; ‘Riot always lives up to the name, so we had to have the Rave Baron, BK, Nolan and the gang back for one final Sunday afternoon blow out before the club closes its doors at the end of January...’
For the last time, at this venue the original resident team in both rooms will assemble for an old skool Sunday blast off the likes of which London won’t have seen for years. With King Roc flying in from Berlin, Tom Neville returning from Brazil and some of the most important DJ’s from the history of the club knocking down the doors to play what will be the most prestigious and mental event of 2009 this will be a road block.
Whether you are a paid up Riot! member from back in the day or have heard all about these legendary parties but never been, the call has gone out to the most up for it people on the dance planet to join us for one last Riot! at our spiritual home.
