What a load of !!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm not a professional gig reviewer, I missed the supporting band (as usual - not that I don't enjoy seeing supporting bands (infact I quite often go see them at their own gigs!) but I never seem to get there much before the main act starts (about 2 hours after doors open, then).
Well, I walked in at 5 to 9, security had already told me they were scheduled for 9, and they started at roughly 8 past. OK wouldn't have minded too much (especially since I only paid a fiver for a ticket outside!) but I wanted to get home for 11 and needed to leave about 10.
Anyway, I got inside and was instantly hit by the offensively smelly and sticky hot air emanating from the main doors (I was downstairs, so as heat rises if they had any air conditioning/extractors at all it would've been ok probably!). I'm not usually one to moan about this, but I reguraly go to very hot un air-conditioned venues and they're ok (maybe it was just the people that were smelly, having waited two hours in there on this particuraly hot day of summer).

Well anyway, I wanted to keep this short.

They started, said some stuff I couldn't understand, and then started playing a crappy repetitive song. On album their albums have got a much more precise sound, but every time there was supposed to be a cool little twang adding in some quality somewhere, one of the guitarist or the drummer would play over it and ruin it!
After several unimaginative repetitive and predictable songs, they played one "good" song. OK admittedly it might be that I preferred this song because I knew it better, shame they couldn't have played it live like how it sounded on the CD (TBH I reckon the sound they make in the studio might not be so achieveable live, but if so why not just copy other pop acts like umm the spice girls and just pretend to play their instruments...!).
Now what else can I say about them... OK after the first song, they all in perfect timing put their arms up (just the one, all on the right) pointing to the sky, how very very sad.
And by the sounds of it this tour (well, actually just one gig that didn't sell out...) is to promote the new album, "News and Tributes". You can hear a few tracks on their site @ www.thefutureheads.co.uk.

I'll just end by saying this. I don't usually like to give anyone bad press (especially since I left at 9:50 and it might've got better in the second half of the gig (which likely ended at 10:30)), but the whole idea of writing repetitive songs and all three of them singing (mainly because the main guy singing by himself well you get to hear how well he can sing (not very from what he did on an acoustic track just before I left) and them playing over all the good bits... not good!

P.S: Anyone want to point me in the right direction to learn more about reviewing gigs well, great!
