IT’S ‘BACK TO SCHOOL’ AS SCHOOLDISCO CELEBRATES A NIGHT OF MASH UP TOP MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT
HEADLINERS: EMBRACE DJ SET WITH DANNY AND RICHARD MANAMARA PLUS DJ NIYI
It’s ‘Back To School’ on Saturday 26th May 2007 as SchoolDisco celebrates its move to The Forum with a night showcasing an original mix of top music featuring award-winning UK band Embrace and London’s newest DJ sensation - NIYI
With two number one albums under their belt, Embrace has taken a well earned rest from touring, and brothers Danny and Richard McNamara are still out there rocking the floor - but this time they are doing it at SchoolDisco with vinyl! Fusing an eclectic mix of Electro-Rock and Indie, the Embrace DJ’s are fast becoming the UK’s most sought after alternative DJ duo.
Danny McNamara says: “We will be playing tunes that make people who had no intention of either singing or dancing go home hoarse and dripping with sweat – SchoolDisco CLASSSSSS!”
Also mixing it up on the SchoolDisco decks will be NIYI. One of the main curators in the epicentre of the New Rave scene, he has been a central part of London’s fashionably flamboyant, avant-garde scene. NIYI’s DJ style is an all-inclusive attitude to genres, from Bollywood, grime and pop, to French Choirboy music, TV theme tunes and everything else in between, including new beat.
Bobby Sanchez, DJ and founder of SchoolDisco sums it up: "SchoolDisco is thrilled to bring such great DJ’s as Embrace and NIYI back to school. With such exciting talent SchoolDisco will be adding to the illustrious roll-call of music legends that have performed at The Forum. So why not Do It Again: drop your inhibitions, dig out your old school tie and come and get involved”
Since launching in 1999, SchoolDisco has attracted an international cult following and enjoyed six successful top-selling albums. In fact, it is one of the UK’s longest running club nights! 2007 will see SchoolDisco continue to host weekly parties which spin the best of Glam rock, Ska, Punk, Reggae, Pop Classics, R’n’B, and Hip Hop and indie tunes.
From Planet Rock and Renegades of Funk by Afrika Bambaataa, Police Officer by Smiley Culture and Funky President by James Brown to the very best of Blondie, The Jacksons and Queen.
