On stage:
Our headline live act are VADOINMESSICO. Formed in 2006 when Giorgio Poti (Italy) and Salvador Garza (Mexico) met at music college in London they combine their various musical influences to create rousing guitar anthems with unexpectedly sweet vocals. They are joined by Stephan Buergermeister (Austria) on banjo to provide us with a fresh and exciting sound with a truly international flavour.
Our special guest from Mexico is Latin Grammy Award Winning Pop-Rock singer and songwriter NATALIA LAFOURCADE. In 2003, she was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best New Artist category (she lost to David Bisbal) for her debut album but it was not until 2005 when she releaseed her second album ‘Casa’ with her then group Natalia y La Forquetina that she won the Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album by a Duo or Group with Vocal
Produced mostly by Café Tacuba's Emmanuel del Real, ‘Casa’ presented a more mature, rock-oriented sound while retaining pop and bossa-nova influences. In 2006, after a tour of Mexico and the U.S, Natalia announced that she will be leaving La Forquetina to once again work as a solo artist. A documentary about the band was made, mostly showing the group on the road and their travels. The documentary was aired on MTV in the fall of 2007. She is currently signed to Sony BMG.
To get us into true HALLOWEEN mood the evening will be kicked off by THE LUGOSI
North London based “The Lugosi” are the result of what happened when Matt Hill (guitar), Mike Baker (bass) and Richard Parsons (vocals, harmonica) each experienced their personal “Year Of Hell”. This darker, edgier, more visceral yet more grandiose musical direction sat uneasily within the confines of their already established powerpop group “Monterey” and so, with the addition of Greg Stapley (drums) and Lucia Hrda (vocals), “The Lugosi” were born – in 2005. Says Richard: “We wear black. We’re serious, certain, cynical, theatrical; it’s our second adolescence – only with less spots.
