We know you're dying to, so why don't you tell us about The Island ;)
The Island is a new concept venue which is just about to be fully launched this Saturday. Each month we present the finest club nights from around the world to host at The Island every Saturday. We’ve got some amazing parties lined up including our Grand Launch this Saturday, Danny Rampling coming out of retirement to play a one off set for his and Nicky Holloway's new album ’20 years of House’ and the amazing Fierce Angel’s by Mark Doyle throwing their first party in London in a year. We've also got the capital’s biggest parties, Maximal, Kidology and Twisted Disco moving over to take up residencies in 2008 once The Cross closes at the end of the year.
We also have a new club that we are launching with our partners called The London Social Club which will be representing the biggest names in underground house music. This really is the cool end of cutting edge and with a lineup like Paolo Mojo, Rene Amesz and James Talk on their debut night you can’t really argue with that!
But it’s not just about the music, The Island is all about a place where you can truly lose yourself and experiment with the new. We have a lot of experiential things you can do and see from amazing trapeze artists, magicians, visuals artists, burlesque to strange delicacies you can try… its about trying to create something that’s more 4 dimensional.
Oh and did I mention we are the only club in the whole of Westminster with a 6am drinking license? ;)

What do you mean by ‘Secret SuperClub’
The Island has set up of a superclub but the feel of a private members venue, amazing high ceilings, 3 split arenas including a mezzanine VIP level and an awesome FUNKTION 1 soundsystem throughout but with secret hidden entrance that has to be accessed via a subterrean tunnel. Hence why we call it a ‘Secret Super Club’.
We’ve been quite covert about the venue and the nights we’ve got coming up as we want to keep that exclusivity. It’s only for those in the know… this isn’t a ritzy west end club.
Your launch is this Saturday – what can we expect?
For the launch we’ve carefully selected 8 of the best house parties from around London and brought them all together under one roof. We didn’t want to over sell the event with massive headliners, just the best underground DJs and parties on the fixture for this one. Eight different crowds in one unique space dancing from dusk till dawn and we’ve got quite a few surprises too…
What’s your music policy going to be? Who are your residents?
Quite simply… BigRoom House on a BigRoom system! I’m fed up about talking about genres, sub genres, its just about good music that gets you moving. In terms of residents we’ve selected a mixed team of the well established producers like Darren Pearce aka JDS to up and coming DJs like Felipe K from Colombia and Si Scirocco plus guests Filth & Splendour. These DJs will feature every week alongside international guests from the resident events.
What’s so different about The Island compared to other nights in London?
We’ve got some serious club brands involved in the venue and as we move through to 2008 you will see some serious big hitters appear on the monthly bill and the programming will be second to none.
As we progress with the venue we want to begin to build on more than just the music. As I mentioned before it’s all about the experience and how we can create a more multi sensory approach.
Have you ever been on an island?
I live on one now ;)
If you could live on any island, which one would it be and why?
Hmmm think I’d have to say Ibiza, every year for me it just gets better and better!
You have absolutely unlimited funds – what would you have on your island?
Ha that’s a tough one – I could give you an honest answer or I try could say something comical but put it this way it would be one hell of a party all year round.
If you could only take one thing with you, what would it be and why?
Have to be my girlfriend ;) and a phone oh and my laptop that would be handy.
Did you ever build the Blue Peter version of Tracey Island?
I just about have to patience to write this interview let alone build an island out of toilet papers and copydex.
If you were stranded on an island, which five people, dead or alive would you take with you?
Scott of the Antartic
Tom Jones
My mum
My girlfriend
John Cleese
How do we get to The Island?
The Island doesn’t actually have an official address but is situated just off of Hungerford Lane WC2 next to the Strand; Charing Cross is the nearest station. You need to walk to the top of Hungerford lane and you will notice a subterrean tunnel entrance with a green light follow the light and you’ll see the entrance. Finding it is half the fun.
Will we ever leave The Island?
No never, you are ours forever!
Can we get guestlist?
Why not email me and find out? ;) theisland@wearebeautiful.co.uk - the more the merrier!
