This article is about Shiva last party at Island before our summer break! @ The Island in London (UK), Sat 31 May 2008
Following on from their blisteringly emphatic first birthday extravaganza, Shiva return to The Island for one final fling, before they leave its pure shores until July. With Summer creeping ever-closer, expect one of the hottest Shiva's to date - as we bring you May's line-up of Mediterranean madness and Balearic bliss....
It's official! Shiva is irresistible. We know that. You know that. Pretty much the whole of London and its surrounding counties knows that.
The birthday celebrations were a testament to how far we've come in just one year. Striving to put on the PERFECT house party. Fighting to get the best venues possible to dance in. And searching for the finest DJs to provide the music to dance to.
We truly believe we've been blessed by the 'Lords of the Dance' to provide you with the best night out possible....
You seem to think so, too:
Here's a review from the last Shiva night from one of the clubbers, Donna Lee:
With a line-up this spankingly gorgeous, Shiva’s first birthday party was, by rights, always going to be one hell of a stunningly super soiree. With the emphasis being on creating the perfect night for the clubbers with insatiable appetites for getting down, we were hungry as horses - so shone our dancing shoes and tottered off to gorge and indulge ourselves at the Island – a beautiful, glittering oasis. Entering the venue the security staff were very, very polite and courteous – something that has long been lost on some of London’s premier venues. Obviously the focus on making the night so good doesn’t just begin and end with the promoters and DJs – all the staff are customer focused, remembering Ps and Qs and moreover, smiling at everybody.. The bar staff particularly were friendly, welcoming and eye-catching, mixing drinks with passion with such a talent that Tom Cruise (in his Cocktail days) would look severely out of his depth. The dancefloor was filling up very nicely upon arrival, and Scott Lummes was playing a real gorgeous uplifting set that was getting everyone in the mood, this was more apparent when the Shiva Panda leapt out of nowhere and started raving to the vocals and schmoozing on down with the gorgeous girls! Back on the main floor the crowd were now moving to the slick mixing skills of John Paul, who was slinging out some real party poppers. Pounding beats and funky, uplifting tunes were the order of play for the main room - the atmosphere was electric.
It was easy to see the plan come together - this night really was all about giving the clubbers with insatiable appetites some good food. Stepping out for a smoke break we happened upon the film crew in the courtyard, capturing everybody's thoughts, ekeing out the Shiva virgins and getting some lovely feedback on the night. Heading back into the oasis, Liam D was gracing the DJ booth - throwing down some great tunes, classics and really uplifting stuff which was great. The whole main room was rocking and looking gorgeous. The Shiva Panda was by now in the booth, showing his endless appreciation and going for it like a, well, like a Panda on the run from the zoo. The overwhelming factor about this night was that it was one of a few that wasn't up its own rear or taking itself too seriously. There was no attitude on the dancefloor and the vibes were spot on. Over in the electro/tech house room we caught about half of Muzz Khan's set which, true to form, was dirty and I mean not just dirty, I mean absolutely filthy dirty - blowing us all away with his animated mixing and dancing in the booth, really pleasing the crowd. Back in the main room Nick Hudson was at the control enthralling us with banging anthems - the most memorable Josh Wink's 'Higher State Of Consciousness' - always a winner. By now everyone was wringing out the last hour, going for it like the world was about to end. Great tunes from a great guy. This truly was the dessert of the night, the balcony was still pumping and everywhere the smiling continued. We sloped off, our appetites satisfied, we had indulged ourselves something silly on the tunes and atmosphere - planning when to return again. The thesis of Shiva is plain and simple; and the guys (and girls!) pulled out all the stops to make it a truly unique night. For a long time London hasn't seen a brand that embodies everything that is FUN in clubland, a brand that is zero tolerant of attitude. Shiva feels almost family-like - as you walk through the club - people smile at everybody and are really friendly. This adds to the allure and I, for one, was certainly pulled in by it....
There's no better way to encapsulate the spirit of Shiva and demonstrate it to you than by hearing it from the horse's mouth and the testimony from Donna proves just that.
Word-of-mouth continues to spread and more and more people join the Shiva Family.
So, what do we have lined up next? Our final bash at The Island until July.
