Bigger and Better than Ever!!

This article is about Need2Soul @ The Key in London (UK), Sat 11 Nov 2006

With a move to bigger things Need2Soul is switching to Saturdays and taking over 2 rooms for their bi-monthly night at the Key. Saturday 11th November will see their biggest line-up to date. Headlining Room 1 is New York legend Joe Claussell of house music institution Body & Soul, supported by Need2Soul’s resident Rap Saunders. Room 2 will see London’s very own Broken Beats aficionados Bugz In The Attic playing a rare DJ set alongside Restless Soul’s Phil Asher.

As usual Room 1 will be all about house, and who better to headline than Joe Claussell, the New York-based re-mixer, producer, and global DJ. In 1996, joining New York DJ’s Francois K and Danny Krivit, Joe became part of the most influential underground party of the late 90’s, Body & Soul. His spirituality and passion contributing to the kinetic energy that set vinyl on fire every Sunday. He stands out from most DJ’s for his innate ability to broadcast his passion from the first to the last person on the dance floor. In early 1998 Joe created Spiritual Life Music and instant remix classics followed with Ten City’s “Nothing Changes,” and Cesoria Evora’s “Sangue De Beirona.” He is also joint owner of the illustrious vinyl shop Dance Tracks. Warm things up for Joe will be Need2Soul resident Rap Saunders.

Room 2 will be taken over by broken beat kings Phil Asher and Bugz In The Attic who will be playing a rare DJ set. It was exactly ten years ago that Bugz in the Attic first formed. Hanging out in Orin’s attic studio in Richmond, six assorted musical misfits, joined by their common love of dance music, took on the title Bugz In the Attic thanks to leading beats-king Phil Asher who granted them the title. Orin ‘Afronaught’ Walters, Paul ‘Seiji’ Dolby, Kaidi Tatham, Daz-I-Kue, Alex Phountzi, Cliff Scott, Mark Force and Matt Lord certainly create tunes that make an audacious statement, but behind their mighty façade is a bunch of nonchalant, occasionally chaotic musicians with a natural knack for producing quality dance music. 2004’s ‘Booty La La’ was a massive hit and their long-awaited debut, ‘Back In The Dog House’ is exciting and vibrant, unique yet universal. Phil Asher, needs no introduction, a permanent figure on the London dance music scene for the last 10 years, he is equally respected on both the house and broken beats scene, so expect an eclectic mix of music.
