NSB@The Key - The most fun you can have in public!
I’d heard good things about the venue and I’d listened to the station a couple of times and really enjoyed it but nothing could have prepared me for what was about to hit me when I walked through the door of the NSB Radio club night at The Key in Kings Cross.

Where do I start? The venue? Yes, it was fabulous. Exposed brick walls, glittering chandeliers, gilt-framed mirrors reflecting the simple yet very effective lasers and a psychedelic, illuminated honeycomb dance floor all combined to give the space an eclectic intimate-French-jazz-club-meets-retro-discothèque feel that was truly unique.

I think the very first thing that really struck me was the incredible, well, normalness of everyone inside. No posers, no sharks, no super-egos here. No yobs, no snobs and not a glo-stick in sight. Everyone had the same agenda and that was to party- with friendly people and great music. Even the incredibly efficient staff were smiling and boppin’ their heads to the music that simply defied standing still to.

The DJs, including Jay Cunning, Janette Slack, General Midi and the mighty Breakfastaz, spun the funkiest web of body popping break beats that I have ever been caught up in and I was certainly not alone. Virtually everyone in the club was dancing and I mean really dancing. No tight-arse two step- I’m talking hands in the air, knees up to there and getting proper funky like nobody’s watching. Never have I been to a club with such a full on party vibe. The whole night seemed to come off without a hitch- private party feel with superclub professionalism- very impressive. The whole place was hopping and I, as much as everyone, was loving every minute of it.

NSB @ The Key was definitely not your average club night- but just think what a wonderful world it would be if it was???
