Jon was responsible for one of 2006's biggest records the huge 'Rendition' and has releases on Kill a watt, Cr2, Bomb Squad, PunchFunk and Toolroom.This year has been another big year for Jon and the future looks even brighter….
So Jon, tell us…. you working on anything new at the moment?
I’m working on a new solo EP at the moment which I’m hoping will be finished by the end of September, and then will be released in November on KillaWatt. Dave Robertson & myself just had our 3rd single signed to Cr2 to follow up The Rendition and Our Execution, called Another T. Plus there are a few remixes due for release, a remix for Disciples of Sound’s new label; Mode and Gorgio Prezioso & Libe – Pongo, on Gut Instinct, amongst others!
How would you best describe your sound for us?
I’d say my solo productions have more of a jacking tech house feel these days, but anything goes, it depends on the day. Then the collaborations with Robertson normally take a much more pumping tech house / techno vibe.
Are there any producers that are exciting you at the moment?
Yes!! Really loving the sound coming from Lee Mortimer at the moment, I’m going to get him in for a remix soon too. He also goes under the name ‘The Sawtooth Sucker’, if you like the sort of stuff Jesse Rose churns out then you’ll probably like Lee. Also Dave Robertson has some unreleased belters coming soon on his new label; Reveail.
Any plans for the rest of the year?
Well at the moment the diary is pretty full up to the end of the year, so I guess its all planned out for me, I am hoping to take a break in January to have a bash at an album. Robertson and myself plan to make a couple more EP’s for the year turns in!
Where can we catch you next in action?
This month you can catch me in Jersey on the 22nd, and then I’ll be doing my first ever live set at Punchfunk in Portsmouth on 29th, which is pretty scary!! And then October I’ll be in Lithuania and Latvia amongst others, a full gig diary can be found at www.myspace.com/jongurd
