This article is about [socialise] @ The Light Bar (E1) in London (UK), Sun 06 May 2007
Some of you may already be familiar with this fantastic underground venue, the Light Bar in Shoreditch has seen a great number of London's top underground parties such as 'Secretsundaze' throw amazing summertime events with dedicated sound systems being brought in since the venue does not have it's own. In the summertime people can be seen spilling out of the crowded interior into their grassy courtyard sipping fine cocktails and basking in the sun. However, some years ago developers for the land the Light Bar is built on tried to demolish this amazing venue and they are once more threatening their lease with the same intention. Surely this building is worthy of conservation and genuinely represents an important part of Shoreditch's heritage. The venue are asking on their web-site that if people agree, to sign up to a petition offering protection against the threatened demolition of an important part of Shoreditch’s heritage and local streetscape. To aid in this petition [socialise] plan to use their May Bank Holiday all day party as an eye opener to the people that attend, having a petition passed around for all to sign to show their support of this former electric light station.
On Sunday 06 May, WIGGLE’s tech-house ambassador and FABRIC resident NATHAN COLES joins [socialise] for and ALL DAY Bank Holiday celebration of sophisticated underground house at The Light Bar on a 6K sound system that has to be heard to be believed! Armed with a 10,000 watt grin and almost superhuman reserves of stamina Nathan has bumped and hustled his way into the hot, humid netherworld of the warehouse party scene and in alliance with Mr. C launched the legendary RELEASE parties. It was in 1994 however that he really cemented his lofty position in the house music hall of fame when he and Terry Francis begun the infamous WIGGLE parties and in the process gave birth to a musical movement now known as TECH-HOUSE.
WIGGLE'S far-reaching reputation was officially recognized when it was nominated for "Best Underground Club” at the Muzik Magazine SAS awards. In this respect Nathan can justifiably be called a musical pioneer, having spent the last 15 years as a kind of roving ambassador for tech-house, laying down rapturously-received sets of loose-limbed, funk-fuelled house in an array of venues all over the world. Nathan thankfully shows no signs of slowing down, like a fine wine he surely gets better with age, where his ability to read a crowd, taste in music and flawless mixing abilities never cease to amaze and astound.
