The Marquee Club calendar

Info

The Marquee club is most associated with rock music. The Rolling Stones played their first gig at the Marquee's first incarnation on Oxford Street in 1962.
Since then it's moved to Wardour Street in Soho, then Charing Cross Road and The Eurythmic's Dave Stewart had a go at launching at the Islington Academy. That didn't work out and now new management have re-opened it on the site of the old superclub, Home at Number 1 Leicester Square. They say:
“Capacity runs close to 900, with a main area capacity of 550 and a balcony area capacity of 320. The stated ambition is simple - to restore the reputation of the Marquee as the first choice live music venue in the country - not just for the public, but for the bands and industry as well.”
