Let’s face it, London clubbing is great: Big name artists at even bigger clubs, thumping soundsystems, a plethora of pre and after parties, day clubs, gay clubs, the list is endless but it can also be really annoying. The tourists, the strays and the crack heads, long queues, expensive drinks and over crowded dancefloors really can put a dampener on things. It doesn’t matter who’s playing, if you’re left fighting space on the dancefloor or have to take out a small loan for every round of drinks then chances are, you’re not going to be best pleased.

That’s where Platform 12 manage to get it so right. It’s really refreshing for a London clubnight to actually consider the possibility that’s it’s not all about how many tourists you can pack in or how many superstars you can squeeze on to the line-up (although they did manage to have the Scratch Perverts and General Midi at their last event). The ethos at Platform 12 is to “provide something a little more comprehensive” and promoter/residents Clive Morley & Ladykilla put a lot of effort into making sure everyone has a darn good time. And they do it well it would seem; around 500 turned up to watch the Scratch Perverts and co at The Key and not many would have left dissatisfied… The friendly (but oh my how thoroughly they search you) security, the chirpy door staff and the incredible music all contributed to a fantastic night and all for £8 entry. Bargain

It’s clear that there’s a little community within the Platform 12 ranks and the general rule is to have fun, dance and make noise. The vibe during the Pervert’s set really was something you don’t see in London very often, each track being greeted with huge cheers and even a few industry hands in the air too. Maybe inhibitions are what the security were checking for at the door.
