** Launch Night ** Slash Dot Dash @ The Rhythm Factory Pres. Marc Houle (Live) and LoveFish. Room 2 Hosted by Progressive Movement 27th April 07
XI

Minimalists gather round and lend me your ears. I have an important announcement to make. On the 27th April 2007 Slash Dot Dash launches with a very special line up in a very special venue! The Rhythm Factory plays host to one of the best Producers around right now... Marc Houle!

RESTORE is the solo debut from Windsor’s Marc Houle of Run Stop Restore. His new eleven track double-pack dives into a dark deep corner of melodic minimal grooved-up techno. Undoubtedly fueled by the golden age of synthesizers, Houle is captured by early 80’s synth pop and the underground-turned-anthem classics of Acid House. There’s also no doubt that the early years of minimal techno had their share of influence as well (‘Clock ..... Width’ is a subtle tribute to Dan Bell) inspiring his own model of rhythm and resonance.

Houle is the pushing force behind Run Stop Restore (now a trio) and has a ferociously productive studio. Located in Windsor, where nightlife is still at best (well, for techno) he is working on new music nearly on a daily basis, if not for solo works, then ideas for future RSR tracks or his other project, the French-based pop band Raid Over Moscow. 2004 rekindled Run Stop Restore from its early beginning on the Detroit label Throw, by releasing the ‘Geometry EP’ in the spring on Minus and contributing to the Telegraph ‘Post Office 2’ collection. Receiving widespread appreciation with DJs from all walks, the stripped down minimal slap of RSR was back in action, now joined by Magda and Troy Pierce to make the unit a group effort.

RESTORE assembles tracks that he has been testing in clubs on both sides of the Atlantic this past summer, secretly exposed by select DJ agents traveling through Europe and the Americas. A few tracks on the record feature the vocals of New York’s Gibby Miller (Lit). Between recent rousing live sets in New York and Detroit this fall, Houle is developing and perfecting his live show (as Marc Houle) to support RESTORE in the coming months.

Joining Marc Houle will be Minimalists golden boys and all round good eggs, Lovefish. These boys have been tearing up London left, right and center and not only that but their latest demo mix Mimosa Chinch Bug reached 2nd spot in DJ Mags Top 3 mixes

"2. Lovefish
Mimosa Chinch Bug
www.myspace.com/lovefishdjs
Loads of DJs send us their minimal mixes but many are uninspiring. Then a set from LOVEFISH arrived and it certainly cuts through the mustard with it's rocking deep funky basslines and sexy beats. LOVEFISH have played at M_nus nights, at Meganite and at The Cross amongst others. Looks like this pair are already on their way to the top."

Lovefish certainly know how to work any crowd and The Rhythm Factory's sound system will provide them with the tools to do just that!

Completing the list of special guests for the even are Matt Cater and Luke Danger. Matt, while at University in Oxford, is almost single handedly running the Oxford Dance music scene. Pushing the boundaries and expanding the mind of his ever willing audience. Luke is one of London's hottest young properties around, being resident @ Tongue In Cheek, Neesup and Bastardz Ate My Brain. The two of them combined blend technical ability and masterful set building skills to bring you a performance worth seeing.

Rounding off the Room 1 Line up are the Slash Dot Dash Residents

Gorecki

XI has been working his way round the london circuit, and further a field, in the last 18 months picking up gigs at Brixton Academy, Cafe 1001, The Rhythm Factory, Hidden and sets in Norwich, Bristol and Chelmsford. Drawing from Minimal Techno and Tech House to create dark twisted music. Gorecki has returned from a summer working in Ibiza like a man possessed. During the summer he got to play at some of the most amazing venue's in the world taking sets at Space and Amnesia to name a few. Couple that with sets back home at The Arches, Ministry Of Sound, Egg, The Cross and even Home all those years ago. As a DJ and clubber he's been exposed to some amazing nights and music and this is evident in his sets!

Room 2 sees the first Progressive Movement outing at Slash Dot Dash. Come see one of our mods Oliver James and group Members Alex Collings and Tom Huddart boshing out the very best in Prog in the way we love it best. You'll know from the various threads that these boys have the same Progressive roots as well all do so this is gonna turn out to be something a little bit special.

Alex Collings forte lies in first class track selection matched with seamless mixing skills and Crowd awareness. I got the pleasure to see Alex Play recently and i'm very excited about having him in the Progressive Movement room. Co promoter and resident DJ of Dirtbox @ Turnmills which is becoming one of London's best nights and when you see Alex play it's easy to understand why!

Oliver James is a great talent on the London Scene. Amazing passion for music whether he's behind the decks, on the dancefloor or sitting in his bedroom this guys knowledge is spot on. With sets at MOS, Turnmills and The Cross to name a few Oliver James is a name to be looking out for.

Tom Huddart is another name that's been popping up on flyers a plenty all over London. A regular at Pacha, MOS and Turnmills he applies his trade with quality stamped all over it. It's easy to see why he's done all this in just 14 months. He's caught the eye of some top promoters and is Resident for Spoilt Rotten and Dirtydisco.
