SHIVA: The Second Birthday With Grant Nelson!!!

This April, Shiva embarks on a very special birthday celebration. It’s been two whole years since we launched at Canvas, two whole years of satisfying and soul-fulfilling parties that have rocked London at venues like Pacha, The Island, Babalou, Herbal and The Whitehouse. Two whole years of good times, good vibes and great music. It’s at the latter venue where we blow out the brightly-lit candles of our second birthday. We are two.

Shiva has represented and reinstalled all that was magical about clubbing. The rapturous release of energy that emits from a dancefloor every time a tune is dropped. Those tunes that made your hairs stand on end, made you rush with energy and forced you to put your hands in the air. The moments where you would embrace a complete stranger during ‘that’ moment of ‘that’ tune. The friendly and welcoming vibe that always spread throughout the club and remained constant.

It’s these key factors that would jump out every time you went to an unmissable club night – a factor that has been bought back to life, thanks to Shiva. We’re not arrogant. We’re not cocky and we’re certainly not ego-centric but we DO believe in the spirit and magic of what we have created here and long may it continue. It’s all about house music....

On Sunday April the 12th, we welcome you to our second instalment at The Whitehouse for April. A special occasion marking, not only our second birthday but, twenty glorious years of house music!!! It’s a movement that has moulded and shaped a new generation, forced Governments to foolishly create new pieces of legislation, formed a new culture and led the charge for a new revolution. Get ready for a night filled with ALL the seminal house classics from bygone years. A night filled with old-skool anthems, funky house classics and things that make you go mmmm.....

Headlining for us will be house music legend Grant Nelson, the man who helped us kick off Shiva at Canvas many moons ago. Be it through his days as a UK Garage guru with Nice ‘n’ Ripe or his current incarnation as a Godfather of House with Swing City records, Grant Nelson is famed in our circles as the man who gave us ‘Bodyswerve’ and ‘Seasons Of Jack’ with recent stormers ‘Spellbound’ and his latest remix of the classic, ‘Beachball’ – which has been rocking Shiva’s dancefloors of late.

Also headlining will be Rob Blake, the founder of Freedom2Dance, History of House and Back 2 '95 all of which celebrate the halcyon days of clubbing. Many of you will have been to at least one of their nights, be it at The Astoria, Camden Palace or KOKO, or even at Club Colosseum. Failing that the F2D spirit would have definitely hit you on the shores on Ibiza at venues such as Amnesia, Es Paradis and Pacha.

Along with Shiva’s head honcho Liam D, Shiva’s house stalwart Huckleberry Finn and Shiva residents T-on-J and Muzz Khan – you have an entire line-up of DJs who are well-versed in house music and have the tunes to truly celebrate 20 years of house. Meanwhile upstairs, keeping the sound of now still alive will be Get Diverted head honcho, Rob Alldritt and Shiva residents Jordan Brown, Scott Clark, Paul Michael, Chris Cee and Lucy Bam; bringing the sounds of electro and tech house to the re-opened, infamous Whitehouse outdoor terrace.
