Turnmills’ now legendary festival-cum-club-night Together comes face to face with a real festival this month as Together presents BESTIVAL TOGETHER FOREVER on Saturday 28th April and the Official UK Launch Party for Bestival 2007. Having often been described as a ‘mini-festival’ – what with all our multiple rooms of music and mayhem to explore – I guess it’s only fitting that London’s leading club for eclecticism and eccentricism (is that even a word?), should join forces with the UK’s finest festival for all things fun and fabulous. As you may recall, Bestival did in fact host a room at the infamous ‘Hat Brigade’ Together party back in Feb 2006, when The Cuban Brothers brought the roof down and then hosted the hilarious ‘Hat Brigade Final’ (which saw some fella with a TV on his head walk away with 2 tickets to last summer’s Bestival). Fast forward a year and Rob Da Bank and his merry men are back, and this time they mean business…

Together invites Bestival to take over the live room for the night and curate something rather special. Curating, is of course Rob Da Bank’s speciality and seeing as he’s done such a great job with Bestival for the past 3 years, we thought ‘ah what the heck!’ Drawing upon the many talents from his Sunday Best label, first up are the sensational young starlets Kitty Daisy & Lewis – who’ll be performing live on the night. With influences like Booker T & the MG’s and Johnny Cash, incredibly the three girls were only eight, ten and twelve years old when they first made a name for themselves 5 years ago. Their track ‘Mean Son of a Gun’ has since become an outright anthem at Bestival and they have quite the doting parents too with dad Graeme on acoustic guitar and mum Ingrid on double bass! Quite the talented family huh. The mighty Dub Pistols bring down their Soundsystem for the evening mixing up hip-hop and breaks, with disco, dub and ska. Their new album ‘Speakers and Tweeters’ (out 9 April) is a killer and guest vocalist Rodney P will MC with the Pistols and then later step up to the wheels of steel himself. Rob Da Bank will also provide more beats and basslines throughout the night.

Meanwhile over in the new look main room (there’s a new open plan DJ booth don’t you know!), Together resident Justin Robertson reverts back to his more familiar one set routine – having played 3 of the buggers at last month’s sell-out party… the fool!! Joining JR will be techno assassin Funk D’Void, who returns to these shores for a rare London set after his dazzling display at Together’s Halloween roadblock. FDV has been making a name for himself lately under his deep house pseudonym - Francois Dubois, but it’s as Funk D’Void that we’ll be shouting from the roof tops for as he ups the ante on the night. Also jetting in from overseas will be Blackstrobe dude Arnaud Rebotini. If you thought FDV’s appearance is rare, then Arnaud can be found playing even less in the UK, making his debut set at Together even more special. Expect dark, disco punk from Ivan Smagghe’s production partner. If that wasn’t enough, Germany’s man-of-the-moment, Boys Noize makes his long-awaited debut. Signed to Tiga’s Turbo label, there really is no-one hotter than Boys Noize (aka Alex Ridha) right now on that rawkus electro-rock tip. His own tracks ‘Don’t Believe the Hype’ and ‘Feel Good (TV=Off)’ were massive, and he’s also remixed everyone from Bloc Party, Depeche Mode and the Kaisers to Para One and Tiga himself. With an artist album set to drop, 2007 will definitely be something of a monster year for the noizey one. Keeping this lot in check will be Together resident Mike Oman who’ll set the early pace.

Two rooms down, three to go. Next up is T2, which this month sees London’s hotly-tipped Streetlife DJs present the first of many ‘Streetlife Sessions’ at Together towers. The great Danny Rampling put us onto these guys a while ago and they didn’t fail to disappoint back in November, when they played in John Kennedy’s Midnight Ramble room and rocked it. This month they take their mash-up mix (some people call them the UK’s answer to 2ManyDJs) to T2 and invite along a colourful collection of spinners for the ride. First up are Belgium legends The Glimmers, who finally get to show us what they’re all about. We fully expect it to properly ‘go off’ when they hit the decks and we’re even tipping their set to outdo Trentemoller’s mind-blowing display last year, which still ranks as one of the best 2 hours of music T2 has ever witnessed. Answers on a postcard. We’re also getting rather excited about the return of Crosstown Rebels duo 3 Channels, and their deep and trippy tones will be perfect for the 4am slot to see the night home. Finally, the much hyped Bloggers Delight duo Skull Juice put in an early appearance, warming the floor for the Streetlife boys to follow. Hey, here’s a thought for you. All 4 lots of DJs playing in T2 this month come as a pair. Like Jordan’s FF’s (boobies), but not quite so hard.

To celebrate our buddies at Bestival joining us this month, we finish off with some magical fun at the fair and more madcap festival moments. Head to the Cinema Lounge for real Popcorn & Candy Floss, plus a few other surprises or take a trip upstairs to the ‘Silly Room’ where Andy & Ed’s Legendary Swap Shop is back by popular demand. If you missed out last time, make sure you bring down plenty of old shit to swap this time, as we’ve got boxes of stuff to swap!! Register here: www.together-club.co.uk/swapshop. Aside from the retro computers (think Spectrum, Nintendo and Sega), slinky racing and cans of Quatro… there’s also more FREE HAIRCUTS courtesy of Spitalfields cool-cutters Pimps & Pinups, more FREE FACE PAINTING courtesy of www.jazzyfaces.com and more FREE JELLY & ICE CREAM. Yummy.

+++ The Eurovision Wrong Contest +++

Bestival have also kindly donated 1 x pair of FREE tickets to this year’s festival to run in a Competition (7-9 September, Isle of White feat. The Chemical Brothers & Beastie Boys)… which brings us nicely onto this month’s FANCY DRESS THEME. With the countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest gripping the nation (well, the odd person here and there) and with it taking place not so long after April’s Together, we felt it was our duty to devote the dress code to dressing up like your favourite Eurovision Contender. Put simply, the BEST DRESSED EUROVISION OUTFIT wins 2 tickets to Bestival 2007. We wanna see hot pants, PVC, Bucks Fizz, Sonia, Abba, Gina G, Terry Wogan in drag, shiny suits, matching groups, multi-colours, dodgy mullets, Lordi… and lord knows what else. Come dressed as your favourite Eurovision country if you like? Sweden’s got some nice curves apparently. But please note: anyone thinking of coming down dressed as the UK’s 2006 entrant Daz Sampson will be immediately asked to leave. This type of behaviour will simply not be tolerated. For inspiration on your outfits, have a butchers at: www.eurovisioncovers.co.uk.

+++ Free Membership +++

Don’t forget, your TOGETHER MEMBERSHIP CARD gets 10% off all purchases at vintage clothes shop Rokit – www.rokit.co.uk (Brick Lane, Covent Garden, Camden & Brighton) and 10% off a trendy cut at Spitalfields’ hip hair salon, Pimps & Pinups – www.pimpsandpinups.com. Other Membership perks include Queue Jumping at every Together event, plus your very own unlimited Concession Guestlist for you and your mates. And the best bit… well, it’s FREE innit.
